clock has been handcrafted by our master

clockmakers in the exact same way since its

introduction in 1897. Beneath its gleaming case

of solid forged brass beats a heart of over

364 hand-assembled parts and gears – many

plated with gold – complemented by

an intricate, 11-jewel movement.

Yet the most important element of

every Chelsea timepiece is pride. Our

craftspeople are perfectionists, committed

to a 115-year tradition of making the finest

clocks in America.

Every Chelsea Ship’s Bell Clock is painstakingly hand assembled by master clockmakers and thoroughly inspected and tested for two weeks before leaving our Chelsea, Massachusetts, factory.

Mainsprings are hand wound, and finished pieces are balanced and calibrated. In total, the creation of this signature timepiece requires hundreds of hand operations, taking more than six weeks.
