DynaSand Oxy for combined Phosphorus and
Ammonia removal
Content:
• Process description and history
• Trial site and results
• Conclusions
Process Background
• Used in Anglian Water since late 1990s for
P removal, such as Stalham WRC in Norfolk Broads
• Not used for both ammonia and phosphorus
removal to very low concentrations so included in
the trial, phosphorus removal is priority

Conclusions
• Total phosphorus concentration of 0.3 mg/L and Ammonia < 1 mg/L
were achieved providing stable operation upstream and no increased
loading (e.g. from sludge liquors)
• Optimisation carried out when site receiving relatively low phosphorus
load
• Nitrification was not inhibited at low SRP concentration during the trial
• Extended operation at low temperatures not encountered
• Thanks to @one alliance delivery team and operations team
