428 Organic Charge-transfer Salts and the Com-ponent Molecules in Organic Transistors

Electron donors and acceptors such as tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ), which have been longknown as components of organic metals, act as p- and n-channel organic semiconductors in organic field-effect transistors. Highperformance, good thin-film properties, and long-term stability have been achieved on the basis of appropriate molecular design. Inaddition, their charge-transfer complexes work as the active layers as well as the conducting electrode materials showing low contactresistance.

Electron transport catalyzed by a membrane-bound enzyme, D-fructose dehydrogenase (FDH), from one aqueous phase (W1) containing D-fructose to another one (W2) containing [Fe(CN)6]
3− across a planar bilayer lipid membrane (BLM) containing 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) was investigated electrochemically. We found that the ion transport across the BLM was driven at the same time by the electromotive force generated by the electron transport.

A ruthenium-catalyzed tertiary-amine formation was developed using the borrowing hydrogen strategy. Various tertiary amines were obtained efficiently from nitriles and primary alcohols. Two possible pathways were found for the tertiary-amine formation under RuCl3/dppf catalytic conditions. The nitriles mainly act as a nitrogen source in this kind of transformation.

The red emission intensity of these phosphors was successfully enhanced by the Ca2+ doping into the (Gd1–yEuy)2W2O9 lattice. Presented is a method for the instantaneous surface functionalization of iron oxide nanoparticles (IOP) utilizing N-(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl)ethylenediaminetriacetic acid as a stabilizing group. Basic silane ligands are rapidly mixed with acid-stabilized iron oxide nanoparticles resulting in a rapid pH shift. The pH passes through neutral promoting silane condensation on the iron oxide surface but is rapid enough to prevent aggregation. Carboxysilane iron oxide particle (CSIOP) is stable at neutral pH and exhibits no aggregation while bare IOP aggregate substantially.

The XRD and FTIR spectra indicate the products are high pure hexagonal phase of BN. SEM, TEM, and HRTEM were used for observing the morphology of the products. The possible chemical reactions and growth mechanism are also proposed.

544 Single-crystal CopperPhthalocyanine Nano-rods Self-assembled by a Solvent Evapora-tion Method
Single-crystal β-phase CuPc nanorods were prepared on a Si substrate by a solvent evaporation method. The formation of CuPc nanorods was insensitive to the solvents and substrates. In addition, a good p–n junction was formed between CuPc nanorod and Si substrate.
