Dieter Hirt - founder and CEO of

Chemtron since 1988.

Since 1990 we include Siemens as

one of our most important customers.

PREFACE:

Many power plant operators complain about the power loss because of fouling. They think it is

unavoidable. After all, even the best air filters still allow lots of micro particles and some dirt,

moisture and, in particular, hydrocarbon residues to pass through with little hindrance.

Hydrocarbon residues not only stick to the blades, but also allow the air contaminats - such as

hydrocarbons particles, chlorids and sulphors compounds, traffic pollutants, industrial pollutants,

air pollutants as iron and silicate, pollen to adhere to them much easier. The consequences are

rougher surfaces, higher turbulence levels, deteriorating flow patterns, reduced cross section of flow,

higher compressor outlet temperatures and lower compressor outlet pressures.

All this can quickly add up to a 3% loss of power.

For a 150 MW compressor, that means 5 MW decreased output and increased expences. All this can

be improved. That‘s what we work towards every day...

DEAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

this brochure is designed to provide you with the necessary information about the products

and services supplied by CHEMTRON. We offer a wide range of solutions in the development

and manufacture of gas turbine compressor cleaning agents, gas turbine ON-/OFF-line cleaning

systems and nozzle systems, combustion additives and industrial cleaning products.

Working within the industry for more than 40 years makes us a reliable and experienced partner

for your needs. The full CHEMTRON product range is described in detail on the pages of this

brochure. If you require any further information our service-team will be happy to assist you.

Let us convince you.

Yours sincerely,

Dieter Hirt

For a good reason...

DESIGN OF NOZZLE SYSTEMS

Fact is that a fixed ratio of water to the fuel volume should not be exceeded. Our

nozzle system delivers the cleaning fluid in the required droplet size and distribution

into the intake stream. Only with our cleaning products can these criteria be achieved.

It is also possible to retrofit each gas turbine with a custom made designed nozzle system.

Siwash S/ChemTurbo OL is a solvent based distillate and detergent. Distillates are strongly

lipophilic. They dissolve into the hydrocarbon contaminants, loosening

and softening them, and making them easier to dislodge by the action

of centrifugal force.

Si-Antifreeze/Chem-Antifreeze

range of use is from +8° C down to -35° C air intake temperature.

Prevents the icing of the compressor inlet. Mixable with water in any

ratio. No bonding or contamination of the turbine blade surfaces.

Siwash W/ChemTurbo OL-W is a water based detergent. The wet fluid contacts the fouled surface,

the solution then penetrates the porous matrix and dissolves it.

Cannot be used in combination with Si-Antifreeze.

Water/Demineralized WaterWater, known as the “universal solvent,” can be used as a

cleaning agent, but it is an inefficient and risky choice. For

one thing, it cannot combine chemically with hydrocarbons,

the largest percentage of substances.

Under no circumstances should you use water that has not

been demineralized. Alkali and alkali earth compounds

as chlorides, fluorides and salts can cause a severe

damage to the turbine.

Product ApplicationsOur products are designed for use in industrial, aviation

and marine gas turbines of all sizes.

Cooling air ductsOur products not only clean the internal surfaces of compressor,

but also clean the cooling air ducts inside the turbine blades.

MCCS/VRA-I SKIDMobile Compressor Cleaning Skid

Portable

Tank capacity 200 - 700 Liters

50 or 60 Hz operation

Hose connection to the Gas Turbine

Connection with Cam Locking Couplings

CHEMTRON - Certifications of Quality

ACCS/VRA-III SKID Advanced Compressor Cleaning System

Stationary, fully automatic unit

Compressor Cleaning down to -35° C air intake temperature

This system can supply up to 6 Gas Turbines

max. 75 m pipeline length between ACCS/VRA-III and Gas Turbine

ACCS/VRA-III CONTROLAdvanced Compressor Cleaning System

Exchange of signals between ACCS/VRA-III and plant control

The plant control starts the cleaning process

The cleaning fluid is prepared in the mixing tank

Cleaning fluid is then mixed with demineralized water, Siwash S and Si-Antifreeze if required

After this step, the plant control has to start the injection of the cleaning fluid

When cleaning is complete, the piping system is blown out by compressed air

Each program runs automatically

As process control a SIMATIC S7-300 or a VIPA 300S

COMPRESSOR CLEANING FLUIDS 100% AGENT, water-free

GAS TURBINE: LOSS OF POWER OUTPUT

COST AND BENEFIT

Three ways of saving money with effective compressor cleaning

1. the gain in efficiency and output reduces direct costs for fuel, consumables, labor, etc

2. for a typical gas turbine, the time between major overhauls can be extended with regular compressor cleaning

3. regular cleaning will extend component life

CHEMTRON - money saving with compressor cleaning

€ 4.400.000,-

BENEFIT IN FIGURES: SIEMENS Gas Turbine SGT5-4000F in EURO

Monetary loss without compressor cleaning is approximately

Annual investment for compressor cleaning approximately

Additional revenue through the sale of electricity
