RULES AND REGULATIONS1 The Show will open at 8.30 a.m.2 Dogs will be received at any time from 8.30 a.m. but is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that the exhibits are

available for judging when required.3 Judging will commence at 9.30 a.m.4 Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show will close half an hour

after all judging has been completed.5 The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by

the Show Management.6 Entry Fees: Breed - £7.00 first entry, £2.00 all subsequent entries same dog. Special Stakes classes - £3.00 per

dog per entry. Not For Competition £3.00. Dogs entered only NFC do not qualify for a free entry pass at this show.You may enter online at www.dog.biz.

8 The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.9 Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition.

10 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden.11 Best Puppy in Show Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy

which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six andnot exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Groupor Best in Show is a puppy it will automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy inShow respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is apuppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy inGroup and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy inGroup and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed, Best in Group and Best in Showrespectively.a) Shows Judged on the Group System

1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from puppies which have beenjudged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy

2) Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they are unbeatenby any other puppy

b) Withdrawal from Other CompetitionPuppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from allother competition, other than Breed Classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition for Best Puppyin Group and Best Puppy in Show in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppyin Group and Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previouslyeligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition.Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety (AV) Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c) Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed, will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

12 Best in ShowThe dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at thesame Show.a) Shows Judged on the Group System

(Definition: Shows judged on the Group system include classes for breeds within more than one Group, asdefined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge to declare a Best of each Group after which theexhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show).1) Best of Breed

Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared from those exhibits which havereceived a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of abreed a Best of each Sex must be declared.

2) Best of GroupBest of Group and subsequent group placings must be selected from:(a) The Best of Breed winners in each Group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs.(b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each

Group or on each day.3) Best in Show

Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. ReserveBest in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show

b) Withdrawal from Other CompetitionDogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition(other than Breed Classes and Best of Breed) prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show asappropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best in Show may

subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best inShow and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may bewithdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c) ProvisoFor the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Braceand Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13 Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed sincethe announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previousjudging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

14 No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by Permission of the General Committee of the KennelClub, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

15 All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) – Regulations for the Preparation of Dogsfor Exhibition.

16 All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entryto the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned tothe exhibitor/competitor.

17 DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offersthe following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Clublicensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy

holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of

water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths

of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to direresults. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

18 Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry formand must be Kennel Club registered.

19 All entries must be made on or before Monday, 6th May 2013 (Postmark), upon form enclosed for that purpose, oronline up to 12 noon on Tuesday 7th May at www.dog.biz. In your own interest – Use First Class Mail. NO LATEENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

20 Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling his or her engagement the Dog Committee reserve to themselvesthe right to appoint another in his or her place. Exhibitors will be at liberty to withdraw from competition, but noentry fees can be returned subject to the terms of Kennel Club Show Regulation 20 (i) and 23 (d).

21 The Dog Committee will not be in any way responsible for any claim for injury or compensation occasioned by orarising out of the holding of the Show, or by reason of the act or default of any person in attendance or presentthereat.

22 Special places will be provided for the convenience of Exhibitors desiring to clean and prepare their dogs forexhibition, and no Exhibitor will be permitted to clean and prepare dogs for exhibition anywhere in the Show exceptin these special places.

23 Should any of the Judges be prevented from fulfilling their engagements, the Committee reserve to themselvesthe right of appointing other Judges to act. Exhibitors will, in that case, be at liberty to withdraw from competitionbut no entry fees can be returned. (Vide Kennel Club Regulations).

24 The Committee of the Show shall provide every exhibitor with a free pass enabling him or her to enter the Show. Inthe case of a dog owned in partnership only one such free pass will be issued. Any exhibitor entering two or moredogs will be allowed a further free pass. Passes are only valid for the day on which the exhibit must be present.

25 The Veterinary Surgeons have the power to exclude or remove any dog which is not in a fit state for exhibition.26 An Announcement prior to the date of entries closing in “Our Dogs” or “Dog World” of any alteration in the

Schedule by the Dog Committee shall be deemed sufficient notice thereof.27 Cheques/Money Orders MUST be payable to “CHESHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY” Remittances MUST

be accompanied with Entries, otherwise entries will not be accepted.28 The Dog Committee can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by stand holders at the Show and

remind Exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for thePreparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

29 Special bins will be provided at the Showground in the Dog Section for the cleaning up of all fouling made by theDogs, and it will be the responsibility of the Exhibitors and Handlers with Dogs in their care to ensure that this ruleis carried out fully.

30 All rules and regulations or definitions or instructions in the nature of rules and regulations printed for conveniencein other parts of this schedule shall be deemed to form part of these rules and regulations.

31 Should any question arise which is not provided for in these Regulations, the decision of the Committee shall befinal, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club.

32 Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible anyfouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environsof that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Anyone failing to clear up will be reported to theCommittee who may enforce the right to refuse entries from that Exhibitor for future shows.

33 DOGS IN CARS. Any Dog reported to be found in distress in a vehicle will be removed if after a public addresswarning from the Dog Secretary’s Office has been given, the Dog in question has not been attended to,

34 The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all timesensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car andcaravan parks and approaches.

35 A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodged ornot, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduledJudge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriateentry fees.

36 Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.37 EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with New Kennel Club Guidelines, exhibitors must display exhibit

number / owner identification on their crate, cage or container at all times.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F(Annex B)

1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any KennelClub licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action underthese Show Regulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A 42.a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified

from exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these

Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A 42.

2 a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’scoat for any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of anyexternal part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibitionmust not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performedexcept:a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.b) The removal of dew claws of any breedc) The shortening of tails of customarily docked breeds but only up to an acceptable age limit which shall

be prescribed from time to time.d) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before

neutered dogs are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at anyShow. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall havea written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examinationand analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dogcompeting in the same breed or class. An objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show orby anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges theobjection or the official (as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club willsubstantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing tothe Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produceevidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESIn the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the

title of Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Wins atChampionship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as winsat Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ classes or competing forMembers’ Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating thenumber of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shallbe counted when entering for any class, i.e. Monday, 29th April 2013. Wins in Variety classes do not countfor entry in Breed classes but when entering for Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes mustbe counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. A dog is not eligible for entry inVariety Classes (excluding AVNSC Classes) unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed classwhere such a class is provided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from this Regulation are:

(1) A puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for thebreed.

(2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran class.

(3) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of anemergency judge.If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is

ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options:

(1) WithdrawalThe dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.

(2) Transfera) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the

Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour,sex, weight or height or, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppyexcepted, to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior class, which is overage but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty fourcalendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppyclass, Junior class or Yearling class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or heightand in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height.

c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered,the dog may not be transferred to any other class.

MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.

PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.

GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First prizes atChampionship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes,whether restricted or not, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes atChampionship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whetherrestricted or not, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

LIMIT For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rulesof any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won seven or more First Prizes in all, atChampionship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not, atShows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

OPEN For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.

VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.

ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classesare scheduled.

NOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries. Societiesmay accept such entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows heldover more than one day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed. Puppies 6 monthsand over may be entered NFC. Dogs entered only NFC do not qualify for an entry pass at this show.These will only be sent out to exhibitors ONLY paying with a main exhibitor’s entry fee.

SPECIAL STAKES CLASSES Open to All the Breeds within the Group stated in the Special Stakes Classes(i.e.) – Hound Group – All the breeds in the Hound Group. Must have been entered in a Breed orA.V.N.S.C. Class where such a class is provided.
