We explored the creative use of paper in contemporary music through a participatory design process.

Page 4: CHI2009 art creation

Goals

• Explore the role of paper throughout the creative process of music composition.

• Design new forms of paper interaction to support musical creation.

SENSECAM

Sensecam is a camera that takes pictures automatically with an internal timer, and no viewfinder . A light signal on top of the camera indicates whenever a picture is taken. The camera has a fisheye lens that gives the pictures a wide-angle view. The resolution is low (VGA resolution is 640x480 pixels) and up to 30 000 pictures could be saved in the camera.

Urban environments are increasingly filled with digital display systems that are inflexible, flat, bounded, high-resolution, and unresponsive.

Page 18: CHI2009 art creation

We explore the potential of physically instantiated pixels that enable flexible, reconfigurable, unbounded, low-resolution, and responsive urban displays.
