III. SIGHT-READING: Excerpts from the standard repertoire to be determined at the audition.
All candidates must play on one of the following supplied sets of timpani for the preliminary round:
4 Adams Philharmonic Classic Dresden Timpani (23, 26, 29, 32), American system with Remo Renaissance heads (with wheels, with stage screw for tilt); or
4 Adams Philharmonic Classic Dresden Timpani (23, 26, 29, 32), German system with Remo Renaissance heads (without wheels, with stage screw for tilt)
Candidates will be allowed to bring their own t impani for the final round of auditions only.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra tunes to A=440. Electronic tuning devices will not be allowed on stage.
