The Sox are coming off a 4-2 homestand, sweeping a three- game series from the Angels before losing two of three to the Cubs over the weekend. Following this four-game series, the Sox conclude the trip this weekend with three games in Seattle before returning home for seven games vs. Boston (8/24-26) and Seattle (8/27-30). Chicago went 0-3 on its last trip to Kansas City from 8/7-9. TONIGHT’S STORYLINES The White Sox are 14-4 vs. the American League West in 2015 (6-3 on the road), compared to 41-56 vs. the rest of baseball. The Sox have won four straight games vs. the Angels but have lost five in a row at Angel Stadium. Chicago has lost four straight road games following a seven- game winning streak away from home from 7/23-29. Sale’s 15 strikeouts matched his career high set on 5/28/12 at Tampa Bay and are one short of Jack Harshman’s club record set on 7/25/54 at Boston. Nate Jones struck out the side in the eighth for his second hold, and David Robertson earned his 24th save despite allowing a solo home run to Jorge Soler in the ninth. Sox pitchers combined for 18 strikeouts, a franchise-record for a nine-inning game and the most in the majors over nine innings since Angels pitchers fanned 20 on 9/25/12 vs. Seattle. Sale is 3-0 with a 1.20 ERA (4 ER/30.0 IP) and 48 strikeouts in four interleague starts this season and 5-0 with a 1.87 ERA (19 ER/91.2 IP) and 120 strikeouts in 19 career games (11 starts).
