About the National WorkshopTourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. Itplays a major role in the growth of an economy, as it generateslarge scale employment and is also a large foreign exchange earnerin the country after jewelry and readymade garments in India.Tourism carries the picture of our culture and hospitality. It can beDomestic or International and International Tourism has bothincoming and outgoing implications on a country’s balance ofpayments. Tourism brings in large amounts of income into localeconomy in the form of payment for goods and services neededby the tourists. The Service Industries, which benefit from tourisminclude Transportation services (airlines; cruise-ships; taxicabs,etc); Hospitality Services (accommodations, hotels and resorts,etc); and Entertainment Venues (amusementparks, casinos, shopping malls, music venues, theaters, etc).

At this juncture, the University College for Women is organizing aTwo Day National Seminar on “Tourism in India: Prospectsand Challenges”, on 19th & 20th January, 2018. The presentseminar is expected to bring out a comprehensive study on various

forms of tourism such as Pilgrimage, Cultural, Ethnic, Adventure,Wild-Life, Medical, Sports and Eco-Tourism; and throw light onthe prospects and challenges in the relevant areas of tourism.

Participants: It is a multi-disciplinary National Seminar invitingresearch papers from teachers, professionals, researchers andresearch scholars from any discipline. Two best papers from eachsession would be selected and based on the presentation by themin a separate session, Gold and Silver Medals will be conferred tothe best paper awardees.

Select papers of good research quality will be published inan edited volume with ISBN. The cost per copy is Rs. 300.

Registration Fees:

Faculty - Rs. 1,200 per head

Research Scholars - Rs.800 per head

Note: In case of a joint paper, each author should registerseparately.

Late fee after the last date of registration - Rs. 500 per head (in addition to the above registration fee - for all)
