What Is Child Abuse?

• Child abuse happens in many different ways, but the result is the same- serious physical or emotional harm. Physical or sexual abuse may be the most striking types of abuse, since they often unfortunately leave physical evidence behind. However, emotional abuse and neglect are serious types of child abuse that are often more difficult to spot. Child neglect is the most common type of child abuse.

Physical AbusePhysical Abuse

• When a person is physically beating by a parent.

• Shaking, hitting, beaten, burning, or biting a child.

Emotional AbuseEmotional Abuse

• When a parent shows no type of love, and it makes the child feel unwanted or unloved, constantly blaming or putting down a child, excessive yelling, shaming.

Sexual Abuse Sexual Abuse

• When a family member or anyone is having sexual contact with someone younger or related or even unwanted sex, incest any forced sexual activity, exposure to sexual stimulation not appropriate for the child’s age.

The Statistics

• Just about each week the CPS (child protective services) throughout the U.S receives about fifty hundred reports suspected child abuse or neglect.

• More than half of the victims experienced neglect, which means that the caregivers failed to provide for the child’s basic needs.

What We Can Do to Help!

• There are many ways to stop child abuse. The thing you have to do to succeed is help out a parent under stress with a few hours of childcare or assistance with other chores, lend an ear to a parent or child in crisis, support programs that offer childcare, parent education, family counseling, and child safety, call a parental stress program for resources and support.

•There are many reasons that child abuse occurs, a parent might have gone through a lot as a child and was abused them self. Anger issues, feels the need to take it out on someone much smaller and someone who can’t protect their self.• Drugs and alcohol are another reasons people abuse their children. •Broken families can causes pain and can help create an abuser. Sometimes stepparents will usually abuses children that are not theirs do to too much stress, loss of a loved one and unwanted pregnancy.

The EffectsThe Effects• The effects of child abuse on a child depend on

how great the abuse was. The greater the abuse, the greater the effect on the overall state of the child.

• There are many different effects of child abuse, children who have experienced child abuse are likely to have some emotional and psychological problems whether they display them or not. A child might have suicidal thoughts because of this.

A Child Called It

• The book a child called it is a true story about a young boy named Dave Pelzer that was abused throughout his whole childhood. He did survive though the terrible abuse from his own mother,but there is no reason in the world why a child should be abused. His mother did the worst things to her son, and he made it though it.
