  • Children may only work if they:are over 13 years of agehave a work permit issued by the Local Authorityhave suitable clothes and shoes if working outdoorsIn addition they can only be employed in light work which:is not likely to be harmful to the safety, health or development of the child anddoes not affect his/her attendance at school

  • Children over 13 years of age may only do light work in the following occupations:

  • Newspaper delivery

    Caf/Restaurant/Pub - washing up and waiting on tables - but not in the kitchen

    Shop Work

    Office work

    Hairdressing

  • Cleaning - including domestic work in hotels

    In riding stables

    Car washing by hand in a residential setting

    Agricultural or horticultural work

    Sports Centres
