Introduction
"There are stars whose radiance is visible on earth though they have long been extinct. There
are people whose brilliance continues to light the world though they are no longer among the
living. These lights are particularly bright when the night is dark." -- Hannah Senesh
This report has been written to introduce you to the concepts of astrology and how to get
started with a child's natal chart. Astrology is a complex and meaningful science which takes
years to study and apply successfully; however, we would like to whet your appetite with this
report, and encourage you to deepen your understanding through other means.
Astrology is a study of the connection between planets and life on Earth. It is based on a
concept that energy patterns form between other planets and Earth and that these energies
affect our lives as individuals and communities.
An astrological chart, also known as a horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart, records the
relationship between the planets and the signs of the Zodiac. Charts can be calculated for the
birth of a person, a community, an event or anything that seems momentous. The horoscope is
as individual and unique as a fingerprint.
The aim of this report is to act as a guide for parents and mentors of children. All parents want
the best for their children. We want our children to live happy and fulfilled lives. All mentors
and teachers would like to see children reach their full potential. This can be achieved by
recognising and accepting each child's individual gifts and weaknesses. In accepting these traits,
we can help our children overcome obstacles and provide them with as many opportunities as
possible to develop their talents.
The journey from babyhood to adulthood is full of joys and challenges. This report is intended
to help parents and mentors to support and encourage their children through the difficult times
and to provide them with as much love and joy as possible. Then childhood can become a true
foundation for a rewarding and joyful adult life. Both children and their parents can be satisfied
with a strong and healthy emotional bond, happy memories and many possibilities for future
success.
When using these interpretations, please bear in mind that, inevitably, every chart will contain
some contradictory influences and, as a result, certain interpretations of different items in the
same chart may seem difficult to reconcile. However, this may still be an accurate reflection of
a child's chart, as it is likely that any child will experience conflicting desires, events and
circumstances in their life. Usually it is the responsibility of an astrologer to synthesise these
apparent contradictions in order to present a cohesive and meaningful interpretation of the
dilemmas of the chart. Any advice given is meant to be an aid and the author and publisher
accept no liability for any adverse effects of this report.
Family and Friends
"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you
courage."
-- Lao Tso
The Moon
The Moon tells you about your children's emotional nature and basic needs. It is also the key to
how they experience intimacy in relationships. The Moon tells you about your children's
relationship with their mother, how they experience their mother's nurturing. As a result it can
also give you insights on how to best nurture your children as babies and maturing young
adults. When a child feels safe and has their basic needs met, they are better able to achieve
their goals later in life.
The Moon is in Capricorn
Baby Child needs to feel secure in her environment. For this reason a settled and structured
routine is advisable. Child is comforted by familiar and safe surroundings and may react
adversely to spontaneous activities. A shy or reserved child, Child spends hours closely
observing adults and consequently imitating their actions and behaviour. For this reason,
parents do well to approach Child with reason and temperance, rather than with strong
emotions.
Child's mentors, particularly her mother or grandmother, do well to enlist Child's help in daily
chores. This child is eager to help loved ones, as long as she can see the reasons for co-
operating. Young Child wants to learn as much as possible to enable her to grow up as soon as
possible. Child may be a loner, preferring her own company or the company of adults, rather
than socialising with peers. Parents discover a stubborn side to Child's nature if they try to
introduce varied and spontaneous activities. Child is also sensitive to criticism. She responds
well to discipline as long as it is fair and consistent.
Patience and support from adult loved ones go a long way to supporting this sensible and stable
young person. Child finds comfort in building blocks, model sets, or any toy that has a useful
purpose. Child may enjoy receiving her own watch or clock at a young age. It is also possible
that a pet can provide a loving and welcoming outlet for suppressed love and emotions.
The Moon is in the 5th House
Little Child loves to play. She has strong emotions, which need an outlet, preferably activities
that really help her to let off some steam. Parents may like to fill young Child's home with lots
of stimulating and fun activities. These could be simple games and other activities or perhaps
she needs to express herself through a creative medium. This could be a talent for or
enjoyment of art, music, cooking, puppetry, theatre, singing, pottery, craftwork or dance. A
combination of any of these, or other creative pursuits is possible. Story telling may also feature
in young Child's life, either as a love of reading or her love of writing, telling stories or enjoying
television programs. Any form of fun is likely to attract young Child. She particularly enjoys
playing with her mother and other children, joining in activities wholeheartedly. Of course the
extent to which Child is able to express this fun-loving side depends on other aspects of her
chart; however, it is important that she has plenty of opportunities. Child's parents' role is to
steer these high spirits in the right direction. Child needs plenty of freedom to explore exciting
opportunities, but she also needs to be made aware of risks and consequences of following
one's impulses. Child's mother may also like to ensure that she has plenty of time to play with
Child. As Child grows older, younger children may also prove a source of delight.
Venus
The planet Venus describes your children's personal relationships with family and friends. Like a
Moon, Venus is important in describing how your child prefers to interact. This planet also gives
vital information about your child's receptivity to love. This is important because a child feels
loved in different ways. Some children feel cherished when loved ones are paying them lots of
attention, whereas others feel most loved when given the freedom to go their separate ways.
Therefore gaining an understanding of the planet Venus in your child's chart can give you
insights into how to encourage rewarding relationships with family and friends.
Venus is in Taurus
Loved ones play an integral role in Child's life. The planet Venus is very comfortable in the sign
of Taurus and therefore relationships with other people are a strength on which Child can rely
throughout her life. As a youngster, Child enjoys cuddles and physical closeness with family and
friends. Cuddly toys, a warm and comfortable home and a safe and inviting garden provide the
ideal environment for young Child to share with friends and family. Home comforts are
important. Child attracts loyal friends and all of the good things in life. The number of doting
family members and friends may surprise parents. In turn Child is a loyal and true friend,
sometimes stubborn in her defence of a close friend. She enjoys social gatherings and is a real
charmer at such events. This is a positive child with a love of people. Her only challenge is to
avoid becoming too comfortable in her environment. This could lead to laziness, a fear of
change, or a need to become attached to loved ones rather than explore new opportunities on
her own. Parents need to encourage young Child to open up to new activities and social events,
showing her the benefits of independence. She is likely to enjoy dressing up, painting, singing
and writing; perhaps also gardening or taking care of a faithful pet. Child may have a particular
talent for singing, ballet, art, or the theatre, which needs to be nurtured. Perhaps she simply
has a love for the arts or music, which can be encouraged at home. Either way Child is an
amiable child, capable of forming long-lasting bonds with friends and family.
Venus is in the 10th House
The relationships that young Child forms, particularly any associations with women, influence
the course of her life. This starts with Child's connection with her mother or grandmother and
continues with friendships with girls and relationships with adult women. Female teachers are
also important. In some cases Child's mother may take on the role of both mother and father.
Whatever the life circumstances, Child's mother plays a major role in determining her choices in
life. Therefore it is vital that she plans to have as positive an influence as possible. If Child's
mother is warm and nurturing then young Child learns that the world is a safe and loving place
and thrives at school and in choices later in life. However, the opposite is also true. Hence the
importance of her mother's role. It is also vital that Child is not influenced by a controlling
woman, but rather is shown by example how to shine in her own life choices. Positive female
role models go a long way to helping Child lead a happy and successful life. Of course this is
true for most youngsters, but Child is particularly sensitive to these influences. She may also
respond better to the influences of a female caregiver more than a male. This does, of course,
depend on other aspects of her birth chart. Nevertheless Child is likely to do well in life through
her friendships with girls and women.
Talents and Schooling
"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and
live like it's heaven on Earth." -- Mark Twain
The Sun
The Sun represents your child's identity. It describes your child's basic personality traits and their
talents. It also tells you how your children think of themselves; how they need to express
themselves; how they need to shine in their lives; how they feel alive. It is the centre of a child's
self-expression. The Sun can also tell us about a child's father.
The Sun is in Gemini
Curiosity is central to the nature of a Gemini Sun sign. The natural curiosity of an infant is
magnified in Child's nature. Parents may have difficulty keeping up with Child's need for
exploring everything and everyone in her environment. Child enjoys the company of other
people as long as they are communicating with her. Likewise she enjoys new activities, visits to
other people's houses, new toys and games, and interacting with other children. Problems only
arise when Child is bored. This is a child who delights everyone with her charming nature in one
moment, and yet horrifies them with her temper tantrums in the next moment. These tantrums
seem to erupt for no apparent cause. In fact they stem from boredom. Fortunately Child's
tantrums don't last long because she is easily distracted by stimulating her interest in
something new. Child's talents lie in her ability to communicate with other people. Other
talents may include language skills, writing, reading, or anything that requires deft handling.
Organisation is not likely to be a strong point, but creativity and original ideas are. For these
reasons Child is likely to enjoy the stimulation of childcare, kindergarten and junior school, but
may have some difficulty coping with the expectations and requirements of senior school
studies. This depends largely on aspects of Child's birth chart.
The Sun is in the 10th House
An attention seeker from a young age, Child likes to shine in the world. She is unlikely to settle
into a routine at home, preferring to explore the smorgasbord of activities and sights available
in the world. Young Child may not realise it, but her need to move beyond the immediate family
reflects a need to discover her true talents and the manner in which she would like to pursue
these talents. This is a child whose career and social status takes precedence over home life.
This vocation could emerge at a young age, or later in life.
Of course, the extent to which Child seeks stimulation outside of the home and family depends
largely on other factors in Child's birth chart, as well as her Sun sign. A child with the Sun in the
signs of Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn may be more introverted than a
child with the Sun in the signs of Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, Libra or Aquarius. Whatever the
Sun sign, Child is still likely to make an impact on the world. Parents and mentors would do well
to support this side of Child's nature or face the alternative. In particular, Child needs
encouragement from her father in order to excel in public. If Child feels hemmed in, she is likely
to become a restless and disruptive influence on the home and family. On the other hand let
Child shine and she has the makings of a true leader, both in the playground and later in life.
Mercury
The planet Mercury describes your children's intellectual abilities. The sign and placement of
Mercury can describe whether or not your child finds it easy to concentrate at school. Your child
may be a daydreamer or have great concentration. Your child may be shy or interact easily with
other people. Either way it is possible to boost your child's self-esteem by choosing study
methods and schooling that suits their needs rather than forcing them to fit into an alien
environment. Gaining an understanding of the planet Mercury can help in these matters.
Mercury is in Gemini
This is a powerful placement for the planet Mercury. Both Mercury and the sign Gemini depict
strengths in interaction and academic pursuits. The combination portrays a youngster with
formidable intellectual prowess. Child is a real little scholar. She enjoys stimulation from an
early age and is keen to talk and read as early as possible. Parents and mentors do well to
surround young Child with books, educational and fun videos/DVDs, computers, television,
puzzles, games and anything that supports her zest for learning. Child also enjoys the sound of
her own voice literally, so a tape recorder can be a great investment! The only concern could be
parental exhaustion leading to the temptation to allow Child too much time in front of the
television or on mindless computer games.
Young Child enjoys talking with her friends and family, asking endless questions and seeking
satisfactory answers. She has a real talent for communicating with people of all ages ranging
from her own friends to elderly relatives. Child is charming, coquettish, and a chatterbox! She
enjoys the stimulation of pre-school and school, although she may be a little restless in a more
traditional, structured school environment. Child thrives when she has the ability to exercise
her agile mind rather than if she is forced to conform to routine study. Parents, teachers and
mentors need to encourage Child's natural curiosity while also teaching her to persist at one
task.
Child can be interested in so many things that she has difficulty persisting with one project.
Once she has learnt persistence then she can excel at anything she sets her mind to.
Mercury is in the 10th House
Child wants all of her family and friends to notice how clever she is. As an infant she shows off
in front of friends and relatives, delighting them with her comic antics. As Child matures, she
starts to shine in intellectual pursuits such as talking, reading and studying. She is quite the little
scholar, shining at school and any task that requires a sharp mind. Studies come so easily to
young Child that she may be tempted to play the class clown in order to alleviate her boredom.
Parents and teachers need to provide Child with plenty of stimulation to help her stay at the
top of the class without distracting classmates.
The placement of the planet in the 10th house of life choices and career can be a challenging
one. At some stage in her young life Child is faced with a choice that affects her path in life. This
could be a change of school resulting in a completely different life direction, or it could happen
later in her development with a difficult choice between two potential career paths. Parents
and mentors need to support Child in this decision, helping her understand that either path
could be positive. Of course all children and parents face choices during the course of childhood
development. The difference for young Child is that, if decisions are not handled with great
care, she is hesitant to move forward in a positive manner, believing that she made the wrong
choice. She needs to be taught to have confidence in her choices and that she is fortunate to
have opportunities. It is never too late for Child to change her mind. The 10th house is also the
area that depicts career. Therefore it is important to note that Child may be a teacher, sales
person, accountant or business person in adult life. This depends on other aspects of her birth
chart.
Goals
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -- Eleanor Roosevelt
The Ascendant
The Ascendant, or Rising Sign as it's sometimes called, is considered to be an important
component of an astrology chart. Ancient astrologers believed that the Ascendant depicted a
person's primary motivation. Some believed that it was one of the links to discovering what
makes a person happy. It could be said that when we're accomplishing our primary motivation
then we're happy. By gaining knowledge of a child's Ascendant and discovering this child's
primary motivation in life, parents and mentors can then help them achieve their goals. Caring
adults can encourage the child with love and support. In turn your child experiences a sense of
happiness and fulfilment.
The Ascendant is in Leo
Child is likely to actively seek her purpose in life, taking the initiative rather than waiting until
circumstances are comfortable. Child loves to be the centre of attention and strives to make an
impression on the world from a young age. Her primary motivation is for action. Leo is a Fixed
sign denoting fixity of purpose, resolution, self-reliance and independence. However, it is also a
Fire sign depicting a need for action and enterprise.
Child is sincere, generous and ambitious, assured of her own purpose. Life is full and eventful
once young Child has arrived. Parents will enjoy showing off young baby Child, as much as she
enjoys being on display. As a baby and young child Child has a sunny nature and demands a lot
of attention. Child's path to achieving her goals may be strewn with a few obstacles intended
on teaching patience and humility. However, Child will soon learn to use her strength of
character and strong willpower in a positive and powerful manner. Child is a sunny-natured
child who revels in the attention and praise of loved ones.
Mars
Ambition and drive, like many traits, can be powerful positive forces in your children’s lives,
helping them achieve their dreams. Too much ambition can hinder your child’s ability to
collaborate. On the other hand, without motivation your child may not be able to establish a
healthy sense of self and successfully leave home and family. Studying Mars, the planet of drive
and energy, assists parents and mentors. Mars describes vitality in your child’s birth chart. If our
children are free to pursue their own dreams and ambitions, their joie de vivre is a wonderful
thing to see. By understanding the placement of Mars in your child’s chart, you can help support
their goals. You gain insight into whether or not your child lacks motivation in certain areas and
why. You can also see if your child has an excess of passion. As a result you can either patiently
try to motivate your child, or you can provide plenty of stimulation and direction.
Mars is in Gemini
Child is curious and needs much stimulation to satisfy her natural inquisitiveness. A restless
baby and toddler, Child is keen to discover the world around her. She is intelligent and loves to
talk. This is a child who asks constant questions, often talking before taking the time to reflect
on what she is saying. She thoroughly enjoys discussions, and has a great sense of humour, but
she is likely to continue in an argument long after others have reached their limit. Her
intellectual enthusiasm could be positively directed into activities such as debating or the
dramatic arts.
Child is likely to adapt well to school, and any form of education. She is inspired by the
resources of schools and other educational institutions. She also enjoys the social contact, but
settling down to a structure is a challenge. This does depend somewhat on other aspects of her
birth chart. Child excels at activities that involve hand-eye co-ordination such as ball games,
juggling, fencing, and computing. Child is also eager to learn new things. Therefore she enjoys
reading, talking, studying and travelling. Parents and mentors face the challenge of providing
new stimulus. It is hard to keep up with young Child. Presented with many exciting options,
Child is tries them all. Perseverance does not come easily to Child. Therefore parents and
mentors need to help Child focus on one thing at a time, to help her make choices. In other
words Child has plenty of motivation and simply needs some help in finding the right direction.
Mars is in the 10th House
Child makes an impact on her family as soon as she is born and continues to do so throughout
her childhood development. Child is unlikely to enjoy the family home environment, preferring
to explore further afield. Of course this depends on other aspects of Child’s birth chart.
However, it is likely that she enjoys the stimulation of outings to public places, rather than
remaining home with loved ones. Child is eager to go to school, working hard to achieve her
desired results. She needs to be free to pursue her own course in her school and social life
wherever possible, rather than have too much parental interference. Young Child has definite
life goals and knows how to pursue them, even if this means being involved in a little conflict
along the way. Conflict is not a problem for Child, although it may be for those around her.
Independence is her middle name and woe betide anyone who stands in her way. Parents and
mentors need to give young Child plenty of freedom while teaching her the value of gaining co-
operation from others in order to achieve her goals. Once this lesson is learnt then young Child
is likely to continue making an impact on those around her for a very long time.
Childhood Journey
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wouldn't it be ideal if we could isolate one trait in our personalities, capture it in a glass for
observation and dissection? Of course this is not possible. Neither is it possible for us to isolate
one part of a birth chart. The different aspects of our children's birth charts intermingle in a
complex manner to make the little person that we know and love. However, it is possible for us
to influence the development of our children, to support them in their journey. The aim of this
section is to give vital clues for parents and mentors on how to guide, but not coerce, the
development of your child.
Neptune is Trine the Sun
Child is a creative child, who longs for a close and caring relationship with her father or a man
who can act as a father figure. Child is also a sensitive child who needs gentle support by an
important man in her life. It is also possible that she has an artistic talent or an interest in
spirituality that ideally needs to be nurtured by a father figure.
This is a child who needs to be encouraged by her father to trust her own instincts. Harsh
discipline could cause such a gentle natured child to become cowardly and frightened. Rather
she needs her father to help nurture her innate talents and interests. One of the problems with
this influence is that Child's father seems destined to play a rather weak role in her life. Perhaps
Child's father is unable to provide this close, supportive emotional bond through circumstances
beyond his control such as his profession demanding frequent absences from home. In some
cases father may be a weak man either in his personality or through illness or alcoholism.
Whatever the circumstances it is important that some gentle means can be found to provide
young Child with a positive male influence. Otherwise she is likely to develop attention-getting
traits such as bed-wetting, minor illnesses and sulking. Perhaps a male member of the extended
family, a teacher at school or a mentoring program could be of help. This way Child's creative
and compassionate nature can be encouraged. Fantasy stories, musical instruments and
recordings, paints and crayons, time spent in nature and dance can all play a positive part in
helping young Child shine in the world. Other aspects of Child's birth chart could affect this
planetary influence. For further information about the exact nature of this astrological
signature it may help to consult a qualified astrologer on a one-to-one basis.
Uranus is Trine Mercury
Child is a curious child, quickly showing an interest in all things in her immediate environment.
Child is quick to learn new activities, grasping quite complex concepts sooner than her peers.
Child requires plenty of stimulation. Otherwise she is easily bored and restless.
Child responds well to adult company and is particularly in tune with male family members. She
enjoys interacting with her father, particularly if her father gives her the freedom to express her
own thoughts. Parents and mentors need to cater for Child's intelligence by providing books,
computers, and other education material. Child is likely to rebel against an authoritarian
approach, preferring her independence. "Let me do it," may be a common childhood refrain.
Child is likely to excel at school, particularly if teachers encourage her individual strengths
rather than force her to conform. She may show an interest in an unusual topic, or share a
common interest with her father.
Pluto is Opposite Mercury
Child is an insightful child who likes to understand what motivates people. Rather than enjoying
learning things for the sake of trying something new, Child likes to pull them apart and discover
what makes them work. This can include anything such as dismantling a complex mechanical
toy or simply pulling the head off a much beloved doll to see what is underneath. It can also
include asking embarrassing questions of family members in order to understand a loved one's
motives. Child is not trying to be difficult, although her methods of learning are a little unusual.
She merely wants to understand all things hidden.
Child needs to be encouraged to explore her environment; even if she does have unusual
methods at time. She is sensitive to criticism and easily feels rejected if her parents or mentors
express disapproval. This can result in a lack of self-assurance. Child is scared to try new things
for fear of being chastised. Therefore parents and mentors need to encourage Child's
endeavours by teaching her in a direct and forthright manner. Child does not respond well to
coercion or force. She also challenges any untruths. Child comprehends hidden meanings and
responds best to the truth. Child may also appreciate toys and activities that can be researched,
engineered and constructed. Parents and mentors need to ensure that Child's entry into school
is as smooth as possible, perhaps even explaining to teachers in advance that Child is a serious
and unique student. Child needs to be protected from harsh teachers because she is likely to
clash. She needs tolerant teachers who can successfully avoid a clash of wills. With the right
direction, Child is a potent force.
Jupiter is Conjunct Venus
Good fortune smiles on Child. The two positive planets of Venus and Jupiter have combined to
bring happiness, comfort and joy. Child has many friends and family members who shower her
with gifts and money. Loved ones are also happy to shower her with affection and favours.
Child is surrounded with tenderness and kindness. Growing up in warm and loving surroundings
is certainly an advantage for young Child. She is happy and secure and able to adjust well to the
different stages of childhood development. She forms friendships easily and is eager to share
her good fortune. School is a happy experience. Child is popular and creative. Academic success
depends largely on other factors in Child's birth chart. However, parents are proud of Child's
generous and fun-loving nature, and her ability to form positive associations. Mentors,
particularly mother figures, need only beware of overindulging young Child. If Child is too
comfortable then she may become lazy, waiting for others to provide inspiration rather than
attaining her own goals. However, it is more likely that young Child's enthusiasm stands her in
good stead for reaching her own objectives with plenty of co-operation from willing friends and
family members.
Saturn is Conjunct Venus
Young Child has a serious side to her nature that ensures that she is a responsible child. No
matter what other personality traits Child may show, she has the ability to form long and lasting
relationships with family and friends. In fact she may form a close bond with a particular
parent, showing loyalty and self-sacrifice beyond her years.
From a young age Child sees the merits of stable relationships and wants this for herself. In
some cases this yearning for security is a result of instability or friction in the family home, but
mostly it is a part of Child's nature. She is caring and responsible. Unlike other children, she
seems to understand the adage that "something worthwhile is worth waiting for". Child is likely
to have one or two close friends, rather than an abundance of acquaintances. In fact she may
be shy in crowds, preferring the intimacy of smaller gatherings.
Parents and mentors need to ensure that Child does not sacrifice her own happiness in order to
please loved ones. With firm and loving parental guidance young Child can achieve the right
balance between thoughtfulness for others and self-assurance. Child is particularly sensitive to
any antagonism by her mother. Therefore it is important that Child is able to experience
warmth and understanding from her mother, or an important female member of her family.
Uranus is Square Venus
Child needs plenty of liberty to express her independence. Naturally inquisitive, she does not
like to be tied down, but prefers to be free to explore her own interests. As such Child's parents
need to be very flexible with routines and social engagements.
Child is easily bored and liable to get into trouble until she learns some self-control. She is a
unique little individual with many and varied interests and friends. Child also has a tendency to
act first and think later. This results in some exciting, if somewhat risky, adventures and
activities. These may involve electricity, chemistry, fireworks or some sort of experiment with a
difference. She can enjoy adventures on her own but usually she likes to involve her friends in
her escapades. Parents need to direct Child's excess energy into lively, but safe, activities.
Benefits can be gained from enrolling young Child in children's sports or social clubs.
One of the major challenges facing young Child is to learn to consider the needs of family and
friends. Young Child tends to ride roughshod over loved ones in her efforts to satisfy her own
desires. In fact, Child is wilful and rebellious. Parents need to walk a fine line between
supporting Child's need for independence and teaching her to co-operate with others. As Child
grows older, she needs to be free to choose her friends and some of them might be quite
unusual. Any interference from her parents is likely to be met with mutiny. Parents would be
well advised to give Child her freedom, only taking a firm line if her friendships are particularly
unsavoury. She enjoys many different friends during the course of her childhood. It takes some
time for her to learn the value of commitment. This depends, of course, on other aspects of her
birth chart. In rare cases this combination of the planets Venus and Uranus can indicate a child
who has a very unusual hobby or pastime that replaces her need for playmates.
Neptune is Trine Mars
The combination of the planets Mars and Neptune is difficult for young children. It takes Child a
little longer than other children to find her direction in life. Therefore she needs plenty of
support, patience and as many opportunities to try different activities. This is one time when it
is appropriate for a child to be given permission to end an activity that is not satisfying.
Commitment comes later in life, once Child has found her true passion. Of course it is always
possible that young Child is a child prodigy displaying a talent for music, art, dance, acting or
even swimming, diving or skiing at a young age. However, it more likely that Child is a
daydreamer and somewhat lacking in enthusiasm for the usual childhood activities.
It is possible that Child's father plays a role in directing her life, either though her absence or by
inspiring her with his own talents. It is also possible that Child has a close relationship with a
grandmother, who introduces her to new and different projects. Either way Child is not likely to
follow a conventional path. She needs lots of reassurance and support for her unique talents.
Otherwise she could become easily discouraged, trailing other children in the different stages of
childhood development. Child is likely to benefit from taking part in water sports, gymnastics or
being taught artistic crafts.
Pluto is Opposite Mars
Woe betide anyone who stands in the way of young Child. She may appear docile, but
underneath she has an iron will. Those closest to Child recognise that she knows what she
desires and is unlikely to let anyone or anything stand in her way. This trait can be seen at a
very early age. Child doesn't like to be thwarted and has quite a temper. It is not always
apparent and can erupt out of the blue. This presents quite a challenge for Child's parents, who
need to teach her that tantrums and other manipulative forms of behaviour are not the way to
achieve her goals. Child has to learn that getting her own way is not the most important thing in
life. Co-operation and consideration are also valuable. Of course, the extent of Child's forceful
manner does depend on other aspects of her birth chart. However, childhood development is
likely to be strewn with some dramatic lessons. It is also vital that Child's parents, in particular
her father, avoid physical punishment. Child responds adversely to force, and also needs to
learn how to manage conflict as well as possible.
Conclusion
”When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man
around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in
seven years.” -- Mark Twain “Bringing Up Father”
This report has been written from a child’s point of view with the aim of helping parents and
mentors better understand their youngsters. Of course, each person is ultimately responsible for
their own actions, but the support that children get early in life goes a long way to helping them
live rich and rewarding adult lives. Children need to be given the freedom to be their true selves
rather than being forced to live up to parental expectations or to fulfill parents’ own personal
journeys. They need their parents to live their own lives to the full, joyously and responsibly.
Above all children need love and support. What great gifts and what a challenging role for
parents! It is the author’s hope that this report may help in the process of childhood
development, supporting both child and parent.
