of Acts (I would love for everyone to read that short passage of Scripture before the 20th) we see how God’s Holy Spirit changed lives and how changed lives brought more people into the church. In the year 2018 we need to continue to grow God’s church … we need to continue to grow St. Paul’s. On May 27th we will pause to remem-ber our baptisms and there will be an opportunity to renew your baptism vows. As a church our challenge this summer will be to visit the families whose children have been baptized here to encourage them to worship with us to connect with God rather than to allow their child’s baptism to be just a party date for the family. Vacation Bible School is around the corner and yes, I really think we can get 125 children packed into our hall-ways if we all invite the families we know to join us. This is a transitional time period for our church and our world. Children need to discover God’s love and we have such a great venue to share the message of Easter with them. The month of May also brings closure

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I have no doubt whatso-ever that every person who meets Bertie Cast, a shut in from our church family, leaves thinking, ‘what a beauti-ful woman’ and more than likely ‘what an awesome woman of God.’ Bertie Cast is a child of God even though she is getting a little older day by day. She is a child of God who has figured out that living life for God and with God matters. Her smile is radiant and even on a day when she lost a front tooth (it has now been replaced) her smile was incredibly beautiful! She sends her love to all of the St. Paul’s church family and wishes that she could worship with us. As we move into the month filled with May flowers it seems like we are all too quickly leaving Easter behind. I sit here with the sun shining through my window still challenged by a persistent question as to whether the bloom of the Easter discovery is still shining on our faces as it did on Easter morning. I wonder whether this has this been the year when the Holy season trans-formed more of us into a stronger relationship with God. Have the recent baptisms of the twins and Cody en-lightened the church family of St. Paul’s to our daily need to be God-connected rather than world-centered? Tough questions because we are busy. Tough questions because the world and our families and our neighbors and our friends want us to be some-one different than a joy-filled sharer of the faith we hold dear. On Sunday May 20th we celebrate Pentecost. I will be wearing red … will you join us in remembering the birth of the Christian church with the ener-gy and enthusiasm you associate with the birth of Christ? Can you help fill the sanctuary with the color red re-membering God’s gift of the Holy Spirit? When we reflect on chapter 2

to a season of Bible study and I am trying to decide on the studies for the fall. I really will welcome your sugges-tions. One idea that I am going to try to implement this fall is a weekly 30 minute Bible study on ZOOM at lunch time; participants can study God’s Word at work or home. Please let me know how I can create a study that you will join. The bloom of the Easter Lily of Jesus Christ never fades. The light beaming from the empty tomb illuminates the path of Salvation. Our God calls us to be different than the world and our God calls us to go into the world for God. Wherever life’s journey takes each of us it is my prayer that our daily lives reflect both that bloom and that light. Let’s see if we can all be as beautiful as Bertie …

Blessings!

Pastor Dave

It’s time to step up to the plate with St. Paul’s!!

We are going to see the new exciting Phillies when they play the San Diego Padres on Sat-urday July 21, and every child under 14 will receive a collectible Phillies truck courtesy of WB Mason!

The game starts at 7:05 but we will be enjoying a tail gate party in the lot right across the street from Citizen’s Bank Park. Hot dogs are on us … that’s a lot better than paying $6 inside the stadium!

We have 35 tickets available for $35 each. Please see Pastor Dave to reserve yours. Money will be due later.

Phillies Game, July 21st Community Relations Team

This is a perfect game … mid-July, give-away night, and a team that the Phillies should be competitive with based on pre-season looks.

The main thing is having fun and seeing if we can get some

neighbors to show up too! Sponsored by the CRT, the Community Relations Team. Thank you all for being part of the essential ministry of our church!!!

Outreach

As we enter the Spring/Summer season, its time to look forward to enjoying the outdoors. I hope the cold weather is gone 'til next fall.

Upcoming Mission Projects & Offerings:

• May – Our first Sunday offering

(May 6) will benefit United Methodist Homes.

On the third Sunday (May 20) our offering benefits The Neighborhood Center in Camden, Summer Pro-gram.

The camp offers children a summer program including

trips, sports, art, Christian edu-cation and skill building while building self-esteem and forging meaningful bonds with new friends and the community.

The costs associated with the camp range from $375-$600 and are based on income for individual families. Your support of this amazing program will provide exceptional services to inner-city children who are not typically able to participate in programs such as this.

• June –

Our first Sunday offering (June 3) is for Native American Awareness.

Our third Sunday (June 17) will benefit the St. Paul’s Vacation Bible School.

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers. May you have a wonderful day!

Also Happy Father's Day to all Dads. May you have a wonderful day as well on your day.

Again as always, thank you for all you do to help Reach Out to our projects.

Choir Appreciation On Mother’s Day, Sunday May 13th, we will worship God through the recognition of mothers and all ladies with flowers. Our service will be a musical time of worship featuring fa-vorite choral pieces from this past year, including a combo with the praise team and children singing, “What a Mighty God We Serve.”

Please join us, and bring your mother for our celebration!

LOVE is our watchword at St. Paul’s. We love God, love our neighbors,

and love each other. Photo was taken by Pastor Dave to make a poster for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High

School, the site of a deadly school shooting in February.

MEN’S BREAKFASTS are a time of sharing and fellowship for our men and the men of several other churches. Our guys meet at 8 a.m. on the first Saturday (September through June) at the Piston Diner and on the third Wednesday of every month at the Country House Diner.

THE WINNING COACH always gets Gatorade dumped over him after the championship game. Pastor Dave packed the church one Sunday in March and Mary Ann Jones did the honors. Thanks to Bev Betz for her perfect photo of the big splash.
