It’s Time for Vacation Bible School!
Glue-dripping crafts, memory verse challenges, exciting Bible stories, fun outside games, and sticky kool-aid smiles are fond memories of Vacation Bible School for many of us! Within those memories are kernels of truth from God’s word that shape us even today, so many years later.
Boys and girls at Winter Park have the opportunity to experience all that makes up VBS each morning, June 17-21, from 9:00-11:45. Classes are offered for children 3 years of age (as of 1/1/13) through completed 5th grade.
God’s Backyard Bible Camp is the theme for this year’s incredible adventure. Registration is available online at www.winterparkbaptist.org or by completing forms located outside Allison’s office.
PRAYER:
OUR POWERSOURCE ASK GOD:
1. To bless the children and families who will be part of Vacation Bible School.
2. For guidance as teachers prepare to lead children during VBS.
3. For safety while boys and girls are participating in VBS on our campus.
The search is on….still looking for……
Teachers, youth helpers, prayer partners, decorators, set up teams, tear down teams, and other gifted individuals who want to have a part in VBS! Contact Leslie Moore or Allison Lairmore to find out all the particulars!

MEDIA MADNESS
MUSIC
Artist: Jason Dunn
Album: Abandon Progress (Releases 05/14/2013)
Artist Info: Dunn was lead vocalist and founding member of the Christian rock band, Hawk Nelson, and has recently turned his focus to his first solo album. Summary: The album features songs with the fun pop/punk sound Hawk Nelson fans love, mixed with contemplative, soulful tunes like the single, “Second Chances”—currently available on iTunes. Our Take: The musical style and Dunn’s voice offer a sound that many kids enjoy—particularly preteen boys. Dunn is a young, influential man singing with a positive Christian message. This is “punk” music—minus the punk.
MOVIES
Title: Epic (Releases 5/24/2013)
Genre: Animated/Fantasy/ Comedy
Rating: Not yet rated as of publication date, PG expected
Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Beyonce Knowles, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson
Synopsis: Think Fern Gully meets A Bug’s Life. A teenage girl is shrunk to the size of an insect and goes on an adventure discovering what keeps the natural world alive—and what evil forces are out to destroy it.
Our Take: This movie looks captivating and entertaining, but the theme of magical, mystical creatures that oversee nature is questionable. Be prepared to explain the fiction of the story and use it as a springboard for discussion about where the beauty of the natural world really comes from—God’s creation.

SUMMER CAMP!
If you haven’t already thought ahead to summer plans for your children, now’s the time! May will go fast and children will be out of school before you know it. If you’ve never sent your children to a Christian summer camp, check into these options: Camp Caraway for boys, Mundo Vista for girls, and Passport for rising 6th graders. Life-transforming decisions about faith are often made at camp. Ensure the highlight of the summer for your child is a growing relationship with Jesus. A week at camp is a great way to do just that.
