This course offers an inquiry into the rich Chinese tradition of literary narrative on love/passion, guiding students to develop a deeper understanding of the above questions/intellectual debates.

Course Readings consist primarily of various Chinese literary texts from classical period through the 20th century, supplemented by modern scholarship and films. All course materials are in English.
