Introduction to Shakespeare William Shakespeare was the great playwright in British history. As a young boy, he did not receive much schooling but he took an interest in reading and writing. At that time, his hometown was often visited by traveling companies of players. He was attracted by these plays so that he was determined to be an actor and playwright, though at that time actors were looked down upon.During his first few years in London, he had gone through many hardships. He wrote his first play when he was 26. As a playwright, he gave 37 plays to the world. He was a great master of English language. His friend Ben Johnson once wrote, “ Shakespeare didn’t belong to his century, but belong to all centuries.” playwright: traveling companies of players: hardships:

Useful expressionsCorrect me if I’m wrong, but…

You shouldn't forget that…

One of the most important facts is…

The way I would go about it…

As far as I know…

After all…

Mercy brings good. Mercy falls like the gentle rain from the sky upon the earth. It is twice blessed: It blesses those who give it, and those who receive it. It is the highest of the highest. We should learn to show mercy to others.

慈悲就像天上的甘露,从天空降到大地。这是双层的祝福:赐福于施与者,也赐福于受惠者。是至高无上的美德。
