Digi-pak Research…

What is a Digi-pak…..It’s a type of CD packaging made out of card stock or other heavy paper/cardboard

material. Digi-packs can flip open like a book, or it can have three parts, so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the left, with the CD in the centre.

In order for me to create a Digi-pack I will have to under take a lot of research to come up with an original idea

I will have to consider:• Logo• Font styles• Layout• Images to be used• What information will be presented.

Conventions…When looking through Digi-packs I had at home, I noticed some conventions of the

product, that are useful information to know when creating my own one.

• They had either 4 or 6 panels• A main image was placed on the front either being a logo, symbol or a image to

represent the artist or band.• A song list was at the back to show what songs were on the CD.• The logo of the production company.• Barcode of the product• Name of the album and artist in the form of pictures or texts.• And most importantly, the same theme running throughout to keep the continuity

throughout.

Layout…. This is a flat plan template

of a digi-pak. When I create my own I would need to create a similar template to this one, with correct measurement and with six panels.

My end product will hopefully look similar to the image on the left. As you can see the Digipak has all the conventions I picked out on the previous slide.

Analysis….

The use of a simple prop of roses with the main front image of a tree. So there is a key theme of nature.

This Digi-pak focuses on one theme with the spotlights being a key theme

There is the key items such as bar codes, the name of the CD and song list.

A place for the CD to be placed.

......The prop of the mask portrays a key theme of the artist- his hidden identity. Showing themes of the artist to be portrayed.

The text style used gives an idea to the genre of the music its quite ‘scary’ like the rock genre. Its also continued all over the digipak.

The Digi-pak focuses very much on the artist.

Conclusion..To help me when I am making my own Digipak I found some websites to help me

identify different styles that my pop Digi pack could take.
