July 19, 2021 The Cholla Administration, Faculty, and Support Staff hope you and your family are healthy and enjoying a restful summer. The start of the 2020-21 school year is fast approaching and before we know it, the first day of school, Thursday, August 5th, will be here! Campus Updates:

At the time of this letter, the 2021-22 school year will be in-person and all school events and procedures will resume as

normal with masks as an option district-wide. I do want to stress the importance of continuing to follow the Centers for

Disease and Control Prevention guidelines with respect to K-12 School Guidance, internet link provided.

This year student identification cards will be required on campus and on all school buses. The identification card is

issued at the time of the Back-to-School Informational Fair. The first Identification card will be free; in the event of a

needed identification replacement, the fee is $5.00.

Parking permits are required for all student drivers who bring vehicles on our campus at a cost of $5.00 per permit.

Vehicle registration and proof of insurance is required for all vehicles on the Cholla campus. When coming to the Back-

to-School Informational Fair, please have vehicle registration and insurance documents available to receive a student-

parking permit.

For TUSD students, the registration process is online at 2021-2022 Registration (tusd1.org), link provided. If you have not completed your child’s registration online, please register them online before attending the Back-to-School Informational Fair. If you need assistance from the front office staff, our summer office hours are 7:30 am – 3:00 pm daily. For your convenience, this year’s Back-to-School Informational Fair will be open to all parents and students on the following days. TIMES: Tuesday, July 27th 7:30 am – 11:30 am

TIPS AND TOOLS FOR THE START OF A NEW SCHOOL YEAR:

• Bell Schedule, first bell rings promptly at 7:54 am each day and students will be dismissed at 3:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays. Students will be dismissed at 2:07 pm on Wednesdays.

o Thursday, August 5th and Friday, August 6th will follow a 7-period day bell schedule.

• Consistent attendance and being on time will increase your child’s academic success and ensures timely graduation. There are 176 school days each year. Please help us to make sure that your child is here for each of those 176 days. For your TUSD 2021-22 school calendar, visit our district’s webpage at www.tusd1.org.

• Students who are involved in extracurricular activities increase their chances of graduating on time, are less likely to be absent, and more likely to pursue post-secondary education. Cholla has many sports and clubs that your child can participate in. • Cholla’s Open House will be held on Tuesday, August 11th, 2021, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

• Fridays will be Charger Day, wear your charger colors; orange and blue.

TUSD Meal Program: Great news from TUSD Food Services! All student meals are free through December 2021.

We are all looking forward to an exciting 2021-2022 school year filled with many opportunities for continued personal and academic success. WELCOME BACK CHARGERS!

Parents & Guardians,

As we look forward to another school year, we will be hosting a “Back-to-School Information Fair.”

This event replaces our registration event since the registration process is now entirely online.

Please go to 2021-2022 Registration (tusd1.org) for more information. Please complete this process

prior to attending the Information Fair.

We will be in the cafeteria on the following dates/times:

• Tuesday, July 27: 7:30am – 11:30am

• Wednesday, July 28: 11:00am – 2:00pm

• Thursday, July 29: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

This event is entirely optional, but you may want to attend if you have any questions and you’d like a

one-stop place to get them answered.

No student schedules will be distributed at this event!

All schedules will be available to view on StudentVUE/ParentVUE beginning on Tuesday, August 3.

We will have people available who can help with:

• Sports, P.E. • Health Office • Finance – Pay fees (see attached fee schedule), return technology, pay outstanding debts • Student IDs • Yearbooks • Counseling • Parking passes • Sun Tran • Technology • Special programs: IB, AP, CTE, Dual-credit, AVID, ELD, Exceptional Education
