HOME TASTING COURSE

Some wine ‘handy hints’: Wines that have been made from grapes grown in hot climates are often fuller-flavoured, and are more alcoholic...here’s why:

There’s no need to be put off by “fancy” French wine labels – that unusual sounding name is just the region (or “appellation”) where the wine was made:

It’s easy to serve your wine too cold or warm - get it right every time with these golden rules:

The aim of the wine appreciation course is to help you discover what it is you love most about red wine... in six easy sips!

This is your opportunity to discover your wine style. You will need:

How does it all work?

Do you like to stick to what you know or are up for seeing what else Australia has to offer… Wine A and Wine B will show you how they compare.

Always find yourself pairing the same ol’ malbec with your rump steak? Wine C will show you why that grape is a winner, Wine D will show you what else can work.

Did you know Rioja isn’t just made with Tempranillo? Wine E will show you your usual style and Wine F will show you something deliciously different.

More to Australia than ShirazSame winemaker. Same region. Different grape.

The Rebel Shiraz 2016 - Jen PfeifferThis wine is for lovers of rich, full bodied reds. Everything you want to taste in your typical Aussie shiraz.

Full of ripe plum and berry fruit, with hints of chocolate. It's a full, rich and deliciously smooth wine that certainly punches well above its weight!

The Rebel Shiraz can certainly handle a bit of heat from the kitchen, the spicy flavours in the wine complement-ing the food perfectly.

The Rebel Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 - Jen PfeifferThis wine takes rich and full bodied to the next level. Big, bold and full of ripe tannin, this wine needs to be opened and decanted for a few hours before quaffing.

Intense blackcurrant and blackberry fruit flavours that pack and punch, with hints of dried herbs and mint.

The perfect match with gourmet steak burgers or creamy blue cheese.

MALBECKRUGER'S PINOTAGE

Las Dos Tierras Malbec 2015 - Dominic HentallThe traditional pairing for all things steak. Malbec is big, juicy, fruity and with enough structure to tackle your favourite filet mignon.

Bursting with dark fruits on the palate, it has a lighter, more floral nose. But don’t let that fool you. This wine is dangerously drinkable.

Leave to breathe for a few hours before tucking into a melt-in-the-mouth steak and big chunky chips. It won’t disappoint.

Kruger Family Pinotage 2016 - Johan KrugerThis little known grape will often turn up the nose of most wine snobs but it’s actually South Africa’s barbeque belter.

Plush and silky-soft, it is full of wild strawberries, dark chocolate and a wisp of bonfire smoke, this wine is the perfect match for anything you pop on the grill.

Serve slightly chilled with your favourite cut of beef for a mouth-watering flavour combination.

Lorem ipsum

Carlos Rodriguez Rioja Crianza 2013Classic Rioja, made from 100% Tempranillo you should get jammy red fruits with a kiss of vanillary oakiness.

Mellow, tummy warming heaven in a glass.

Carlos prides himself in his eclectic palate, wanting to make the best wine he can in all wine making regions of Spain. This is certainly no exception.

CARLOS' GARNACHA

Morum Rioja Garnacha 2015 - Carlos RodriguezGarnacha (also known as Grenache in France) is Spain’s fruit bomb. It’s packed with juicy red fruits that make super-yummy, jammy, quaffable wines.

This wine has a touch of oak adds a pinch vanilla spice, silky smooth tannins and makes it all the more gluggable.

This wine is dangerously drinkable. Share with friends if feeling generous, keep for yourself if not. We won’t judge.
