Drawing Design Ideas with Computer-Aided Software (CAD)

Computer-Aided Software (CAD) was created for designers to be able to create their designs by saving and edit their creations.

Development of CAD was to so designers can create orthographic projection drawings which is front-, side-, and top view and isometric drawings.

CAD programs play a vital role in drafting for visual aids, by showing the value of design.

Disadvantages: Many students are not skilled in converting their concepts into useable drawings.

Pro/DESKTOP

It’s no cost to students, with agreementIt has special effect indicators so students will

know when changes overlap one another Students grow up using this software to create

effect designs were employers hire them and buy the software in which software producers benefit.

Pro/DESKTOP allow students to create virtual objects in three “interface” views stages: Design, Drawing and Album, to help with their creative design. http://www.ptc.com/

Testing Designs and Building Mental Models With Simulation

SoftwareSimulation Software can help students build

mental models of how the natural world works.-Natural Selection: The transmission of genetic

traits to progeny.-Ohm’s Law: behavior of electrons as current

flow through electric circuits.-Newtonian Mechanics: Movement of objects

under the influence of net forces.

OK…SO WHAT?Simulations help students build causal links

and explanations of how the system works and how elements within the system interact with one another.

“Intermediate Causal Models: when simulations are done well they act as models that bridge the real world with abstract theories and laws of nature.

Developing Programming skills While Designing in the Media ArtsSoftware design: impact the capacity to think

reflectively, divergently, and metacognitively.Inspired products- “microworlds”- “construction kits”- “newly scratch”

Designing Music with composition softwareThey do what word processor do for writing.Work with a blank page and collect, revise,

and review group of notes while working to finish composition.

A pedagogically powerful, elegant, & free piece of software for designing music.
