ABOUT CHRISCHRIS RUPP IS A PROFESSIONAL A CAPPELLA SINGER AND INSTRUMENTALIST, AS BOTH A SOLO ARTIST AND AS A MEMBER OF SEVERAL BANDS, WHO HAS RELEASED 18 ALBUMS IN HIS CAREER. HE IS THE FOUNDER OF THE CHRIS RUPP PROJECT, 7TH AVE, AND HOME FREE - THE WILDLY SUCCESSFUL CHAMPIONS OF NBC’S HIT SHOW, THE SING OFF. CHRIS HAS MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN, PERFORMER, AND VOCAL-IST, AND IS AN EXPERT IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, THE A CAPPELLA WORLD, AND THE REALM OF YOUTUBE/SOCIAL MEDIA.

Chris Rupp founded Home Free in 2000 and was their musical director and baritone for 15 years. Home Free, a country vocal band signed to Columbia Records, are the champions of NBC’s hit show, The Sing Off (Season 4) and stands among a small handful of internationally renowned a cappella groups. All three of Home Free’s albums debuted on the Billboard Country Chart, with their recent release, Country Evolution, at no. 4. Their music videos have garnered over 250 million views on YouTube, and they have collaborated with the likes of Kenny Rogers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels, Jewel, Nick Lachey, Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), and Patrick Stump (Fallout Boy).

CHRIS BEGAN TO EXPLORE independent projects at the end of 2015, and left Home Free to fully pursue his solo career in May of 2016, embracing a wide mix of styles and genres. He’s since released his own solo album, Shine, as well as a classical piano CD called Setting The Stage, and in November of 2016 a Christmas album. He has followed those up with 2 a cappella Gospel CDs and is currently working on an original piano album. He says: “While Home Free has a country base, I am a classically trained musician (bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Music from Minnesota State University,

Mankato) and I also work with jazz and pop, spreading myself across many genres. My solo work is best characterized as a hodgepodge of wherever my musical interests take me, from a classical fugue to country, from a pop song to a folk

song, incorporating additional elements like dance, staging, and video effects. Following in Home Free’s footsteps, I am currently developing my own YouTube presence with both my songwriting and piano focuses.”

Since departing Home Free, Chris has also created a 4-person vocal group named 7th Ave. 7th Ave is blazing its own trail with its unique combination of vocal harmony and instruments, and their first album was released in November 2016. Their 2nd album, Collab, was released on Aug 31st 2018.

LECTURE TOPICSChris has guest lectured at many national events in the world of vocal music, including Camp A Cappella, A Cappella Academy, SheSings vocal festival, and SoJam Music Festival. He has led countless college and high school masterclasses for vocal music. His lectures cover many different topics including those listed below.
