EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORDA PROCLAMATION OF TRANSFORMATION

UNA PROCLAMACIÓN DE TRANSFORMACIÓN LOAN BÁO V? S? BI?N ?? I

I was once asked, ?Father, what is transformation and how do you know you are

there?? For me, that question has become the Easter question. Transformation has

to do wi th something becoming di fferent than i t was. The transformation from the

death of sin to the ful lness of l i fe is possible because God sent his Son who took on

our sins and won. What looked l ike defeat as he hung l i feless on the cross was

transformed into victory through his resurrection from the dead. Instead of being

destroyed by our sinfulness, the resurrection was the transformative event making i t

possible for us to grow to our ful lest potentional as the good people God created us to be.

When i t comes to transformation, how do you know you are there? In this l i fe, we do not arrive at the ful lness

of our transformation. Li fe in Jesus is al l about a l i felong journey of being transformed, of being made new and

di fferent. Whi le no one is ful ly transformed in this l i fe, there are signs that i t is happening. Transformation is

happening when we take steps to become ful ly human, to feel, to love, to share, to know and to celebrate

beauty. It is happening when people decide to be ful ly ini t iated into the Cathol ic communi ty of fai th through

Baptism, Confi rmation and the Eucharist. It is happening when we open ourselves to the process of final ly

forgiving someone. It happens when we decide to do what we never thought we could do, l ike seeing someone

through thei r last days on earth, lett ing go of a bad habi t or confronting a problem that we have ignored or

denied for years. Transformation is happening when a Crystal Cathedral becomes Christ Cathedral and St.

Cal l istus Parish, rooted in i ts venerable past, continues to grow as the vibrant, fai th-fi l led welcoming and

loving communi ty of Christ Cathedral Parish.

Transformation has many faces. The way to i t began wi th the faces of the fi rst human beings created. Its

possibi l i ty happened wi th the face of Jesus Christ cruci fied and risen from the dead. Its

continued possibi l i ty is to be found on our faces and on the faces of people throughout

the world who dare to make the Easter proclamation: Jesus Christ is risen, i t is true!

Because of that proclamation our l ives and this turbulent world can indeed be

transformed.

Una vez me preguntaron: ?Padre, ¿qué es la transformación y cómo sabes que estás

ahí?? Para mí, esa pregunta se ha convert ido en la pregunta de Pascua. La

transformación t iene que ver con que algo se convierta en algo di ferente de lo que

era. La transformación de la muerte del pecado a la pleni tud de la vida es posible

porque Dios envió a su Hi jo, quien tomó nuestros pecados y ganó. Lo que parecía

una derrota mientras colgaba sin vida en la cruz se transformó en victoria a través

de su resurrección de entre los muertos. En lugar de ser destruidos por nuestros

pecados, la resurrección fue el evento transformador que nos permi t ió crecer a nuestro máximo potencial

como las personas buenas que Dios nos creó para ser.

Cuando se trata de transformación, ¿cómo sabes que estás ahí? En esta vida, no l legamos a la pleni tud de

nuestra transformación. La vida en Jesús se trata de un viaje de toda la vida y de ser transformado, de ser

hecho nuevo y di ferente. Nadie está completamente transformado en esta vida, pero si hay señales de que

está sucediendo. La transformación está ocurriendo cuando tomamos medidas para volvernos

completamente humanos, senti r, amar, comparti r, conocer y celebrar la bel leza. Ocurre cuando las personas

deciden ser completamente iniciados en la comunidad catól ica de fe a través del Bautismo, Confi rmación y

la Eucaristía. Sucede cuando estamos abiertos al proceso de finalmente perdonar a alguien. Sucede cuando

decidimos hacer lo que nunca pensamos que podríamos hacer, como ver a alguien en sus últ imos días en la

t ierra, dejar un mal hábi to o enfrentar un problema que hemos ignorado o negado durante años. La

transformación está ocurriendo cuando una Catedral de Cristal se convierte en la Catedral de Cristo y la

Parroquia de San Cal ixto, arraigada en su venerable pasado, continúa creciendo como la comunidad vibrante,

l lena de fe, agradable y amorosa que es la Parroquia de la Catedral de Cristo.

La transformación t iene muchas caras. El camino comenzó con las caras de los

primeros seres humanos creados. Su posibi l idad sucedió con el rostro de Jesucristo

cruci ficado y resuci tado de entre los muertos. Su posibi l idad continua se encuentra en

nuestros rostros y en los rostros de las personas de todo el mundo que se atreven a

hacer la proclamación de la Pascua: ¡Jesucristo ha resuci tado, es verdad! Debido a esa

proclamación, nuestras vidas y este mundo turbulento pueden ser transformados.
