Fundraising 2016-17 Successes The Stetsons & Stilettos Auction and the Annual Fund allowed us to fulfill our mission by ensuring a sound operating budget

while also enabling the school to make continued progress in multiple areas.

Cindy Whitley, Leslie Hilberth and the CKSPA “Stetsons & Stilettos” Auction Committee created a beautiful and

highly successful festive evening at Four Seasons Resort on March 4, raising over $329,000 for Christ the King

Catholic School.

We celebrated our 40th CKS Auction, our last of it’s kind for the foreseeable future, and are very thankful to all past and

current parents who have given so much of their time, talent, and treasure to the Auction.

Last September, under the leadership of Amy and Bruce Bowers and their team, CKS had another successful

Annual Fund campaign thanks to donations from our generous families. The Annual Fund grossed $377,000,

and net proceeds totaled $363,000.

Christ the King Catholic School extends its heartfelt thanks to the multitude of supporters who helped to make

each fundraiser and community builder a success.

The donations are fully tax deductible.

Parents giving at the Principal’s Circle

level of $2,000 and above will receive

an invitation to the Principal’s

Reception in February.

Investing in a Catholic Education Each gift to the school provides

critical funding for new academic

programs, technology, field trips,

curriculum, athletics, professional

development, and maintenance and

improvement of school facilities.

Fundraising dollars also help

control tuition increases, help maintain

attractive salaries for teachers, and

provide a contingency fund to

cover extraordinary expenses.

Christ the King Catholic School

offers heartfelt thanks to our generous

supporters who play a role in our

students’ formation.

The CKS Annual Fund, CKSPA

Auction, and other school fundraising

combine to help bridge the Gap

between tuition and the cost to

educate a child at Christ the King

Catholic School. Tuition covers about

81% of the school’s operating budget.

The Parish invests $150,000 in the

school, and the school receives about

$100,000 in income from the Christ

the King Catholic School Endow-

ment Trust Fund. The remaining Gap

is about $1,100 per child.

The school asks each family to

give what they can to the Annual Fund

to help fill the Gap for their children.

At CKS, we believe in building community through fulfilling the gospel call to fellowship and social justice, of giving

service to all persons through sharing spiritual and temporal goods with those in need. We provide our students with

opportunities for service, to make them aware of ways to help others. In addition to our school-wide service projects

such as our Thanksgiving turkey drive, Shrove Tuesday Beneficial Breakfast, Lenten boxes, and CK5K, every grade

level has a service project of their own. These include Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Emergency Response Teams, St.

Joseph’s Residence, Holy Cross Food Pantry, Shoes for Orphan Souls, The Notre Dame School, chemo care packages,

Christmas boxes, recycle program, VA Hospital, letters for soldiers, Brady Center, Jonathan’s Place, The Pines, and

Taos—Pueblo School.

Experiences Beyond the Classroom The students at Christ the King enjoy unique learning opportunities which help to supplement curriculum by providing learning

experiences beyond the classroom, make learning fun, and bring classroom learning to life. Field trips create bonds between

students and teach them how to work together. Every grade attends at least one field trip a year, including the following

destinations: Dallas Children’s Theater, Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park, Dallas Zoo, Dallas Arboretum, Museum of Geometric Art

and MADI, Trinity River Audubon Center, State Fair of Texas, Old Red Courthouse, Dallas City Hall, Fort Worth Stockyards,

Enterprise City, The Pines Catholic Camp, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, World Religion Tour, Dallas

Museum of Art, Dallas Holocaust Museum, Texas history trip to Austin, Taos, A Christmas Carol, George W. Bush Presidential

Library.
