June 24, 2012 Nativity of St. John the Baptist Message from Father Peter Greetings, Much thanks to everyone who attended my 5 th anniversary of ordination root beer float celebration. It was good to get the three parishes together. For the most part I do enjoy being pastor here. Being a priest is great. ☺ However, it does come with the challenge of trying to get others to take leadership. As you might imagine, the priest cannot do everything and does need the help of many. I always find it challenging when people tell me that they are not qualified. Don’t limit the power of God. Throughout seminary I always said that I wasn’t qualified to do Hispanic ministry. I am unable to speak Spanish and don’t understand much. My conversational skills consist of “Hi, how are you? I am well.” Yet, I have had to preside at Mass a few times as a priest when I was in Morris, and somehow God’s grace seems to work through me. I am sure that I mispronounce lots of words and often wonder if the people get anything out of my homily, despite the fact that I can see their heads nodding as if they are following along. Yet, people are thankful, and I was asked to preside at baptisms when they could have chosen the native Spanish priest instead. So, don’t limit the grace of God. Maybe you can help. How can I get people to take leadership? If you are able to serve on the worship committee, help with Mass, become a youth group leader for a youth event, teach religious education, serve on the cluster council, or any other area of leadership that I might be neglecting…God could be calling on you. Take a leap of faith and let His grace work. God can work wonders even though you might think that you are not qualified. ~Blessings, Fr. Message from Father Peter

Greetings, Much thanks to everyone who attended my 5th anniversary of ordination root beer float celebration. It was good to get the three parishes together. For the most part I do enjoy being pastor here. Being a priest is great. ☺ However, it does come with the challenge of trying to

get others to take leadership.

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Each of us has a calling to which we must lis-ten. No one will ever repeat the mission of John, and yet all of us are called to that very mission. It is the role of the Christian to witness to Jesus.

Whatever our position in this world, we are called to be disci-ples of Christ. By our words and deeds others should realize that we live in the joy of knowing that Jesus is Lord. We do not have to depend upon our own limited resources, but can draw strength from the vastness of Christ’s saving grace.

Tri-Parish Cluster News

Cluster young couples will meet on Friday, July 13th at the rectory at St. Joseph’s in Bertha at 7:00pm. Our topic will be: understanding different personalities. There are several different programs that categorize different personalities types. In order not to label or offend anyone, we will be talking about personality characteristics. Each personality is a gift from God, but when we better understand one another, we can better live in harmony. This is especially important among couples.

Advertising in the parish bulletin: If you would like an ad in the bulletin, the cost is $50 each week. Please contact your parish office.
