Nobody in the UK is his equal in knowledge of Ethiopia or in contacts with the Jewish remnant (typical leader pictured right) in that land. For nearly 20 years the ministry known as Beit Shalom has provided practical and spiritual assistance for the Jewish community living in Gondar and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He makes several trips every year to Ethiopia to visit these “lost” members of the House of Israel, and he will come to our conference with up-to-date information on their current situation. We are privileged to have him share with us this Autumn. Raised in a practising Jewish family, yet married to a clergyman, Michele Guinness worked for over ten years as a presenter, researcher and writer for national TV and radio, and for two years presented her own three-hour, daily lunchtime programme on BBC local radio. Michele had a monthly cookery column in Woman Alive Magazine, and continues to contribute regularly to several newspapers. She has written nine books, mainly biographical, including a biography of the Guinness family, which tells the story of her husband’s famous brewing, banking and missionary ancestors. A Recent book, The Heavenly Party: Recover the Fun - Celebrations for Home and Community, is written from her Jewish perspective as a guide to celebration and party – at home or in the community; and she has just had a completely revised edition of her autobiography published under its new title Chosen. Married to Peter, Vicar of St Thomas’ Lancaster, she has a grown up son and daughter, and a baby granddaughter. Michele will be joining us for the first day of our conference. On her singing tours she sings Israeli folk songs and Messianic worship songs, encouraging audience participation in song and dance. She is accompanied on the piano by her husband Yaacov. As well as her singing ability, Eti is also very gifted in craft work, and brings with her a selection of her creations for people to purchase, and she and her husband will be spending a day with us at the Wycliffe Centre. Gerald Gotzen is a gifted Bible-teacher.

A Recent book, The

Heavenly Party: Recover the Fun - Celebrations for Home and Community, is written from her Jewish perspective as a guide to celebration and party – at home or in the community; and she has just had a completely revised edition of her autobiography published under its new title Chosen.

Married to Peter, Vicar of St Thomas’ Lancaster, she has a grown up son and daughter, and a baby granddaughter. Michele will be joining us for the first day of our conference.

Yaacov and Eti Horesh are Jewish believers in Yeshua who live in the centre of Israel on the edge of the hills of Samaria. Until recently Eti was a regular singer with the Israeli National Opera, and has sung in a number of special events, including the Hebrew performance of Handel’s “Messiah” in Jerusalem.

HEARTS UNITEDJewish and Arab Believers in Jesus share how God is breaking

down barriers in Israel today...the story the media is not telling! Many, if not most of us are continually disheartened and frustrated at the way Israel and her people are shown in a negative light by much of the national and international media in our Western nations. But there IS another story unfolding...a story where the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is breaking down barriers between peoples of many backgrounds, and uniting them in discipleship, worship and witness to Jesus of Nazareth, the Jewish Messiah.

As Israel celebrates sixty years of her modern existence, this is the story CFI-UK’s Hearts United Conference seeks to recognise and celebrate. This is the story that needs to be heard amidst all the clamour of war and confrontation, and in defiance of all the lies, half-truths and misinformation. Therefore, the CFI-Trustees have slashed the residential delegate tariff to £175.00 per person, and are re-issuing the Booking Form in the belief that this is one of the most important conferences CFI has ever organised in the 22 years of its existence as a ministry to the Jewish people and the Church.

Where Jews and Arabs join to celebrate and testify to the Lord’s grace in their lives together, there is a special blessing released. Be part of this as we celebrate Israel’s special birthday. Here is an opportunity to learn, to worship, and to pray together with like-minded people on the basis of His Word.

AccoMModAtIon and REvISEd tARIff:The accommodation booked at the Wycliffe Centre is a mix of standard and ensuite. All rooms are shared – the majority with twin beds, and some with three. The CFI-UK Trustees have taken the decision to reduce the price charged to everyone attending to £175.00 per person for the four nights of the conference. However, this is on the basis of all rooms being shared. We are therefore unable to offer single occupancy in any room.

A non-refundable deposit of £60 per person secures a place at this conference. Please note that the balance of fees is due by August 31st 2008. See the accompanying Booking form for payment details. day visitor spaces MAY be available after July 31st.

Introducing our special guests...Ruth nessim (pictured below, centre) was born into a Jewish family, and became a Believer in Jesus in her teens. She trained as a nurse/midwife and entered Bible College for two years. She met and married Albert, another Jewish Believer, and they lived and worked in Israel for many years. Albert pastored a small congregation in Naharyia until his death last year. Ruth carries on the work that has led her into contact with Jews and Arabs, especially since the death of her husband.

Pastor najeeb Atteih (pictured below, right) was born in Israel in January 1965. He came from a difficult family background, and soon found himself on drugs and leading

a life with no values. One day, a man whom he had hated came to him, and started to tell him about Jesus, and how Jesus had changed his life. After some time, this man came to visit him again, and shared with him the way of salvation. This time Najeeb listened and decided to follow Jesus. He was born again, and his wife Elizabeth (pictured, far left) saw such a change in his life, that she also decided to follow Jesus.

Elizabeth’s parents were Armenian, but she herself was born in Israel in 1969. She was educated in a Christian school where she learned English and Italian as well as Arabic. She also speaks Aramaic! She found the Lord through the change in her husband’s life.

Najeeb was working as an installer of lifts, and was doing very well in his job, until the Lord called him into His service...just as he was offered a promotion. In 2000 he left his job to serve the Lord. He founded a congregation in Ramla, and after a while, moved to Haifa to start another congregation there. Many of his family and Elizabeth’s family have come to know the Lord. They have two children Karin, aged 17, and Timo, aged 16. He is currently Pastor of the Haifa Immanuel Evangelical Church, but travels also to Ramla, and often to Bethlehem to minister to the Believers there.

carlos dimianus (pictured, right) is a close relative of the Atteihs, and was into the drug scene and criminal activity from a young age. At one point in his life, he went to help his sister who was not getting along with her husband, and stabbed his brother-in-law twelve times. Carlos was arrested, but fortunately for him his brother-in-law survived, although the couple were later divorced.

After a short time in prison, he was let out on bail. There followed another potentially difficult incident, and he too decided that he had to change his life. In 2003 Najeeb led him to the Lord. After this, Carlos led his sister and brother-in-law to the Lord and they remarried, and have been happily married ever since! Today he is studying at The Israel College of the Bible, and the Lord has given him a great love for both Muslims and Jews.
