St. Joseph Baptist Association Newsletter
January 2021 What will 2021 bring? We don’t know about the direc-tion of our government, finances, health, society, safe-ty, and so forth, BUT we do know the direction of God’s Plan. God’s Plan hasn’t changed and won’t change. Nations have risen and fallen, economies have built and busted, life has been up and down, YET the truth of God’s Plan has not changed. The year 2021 may have a lot of uncertainties, but there is no doubt about the fact, Jesus is God’s Plan. Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus gives us a clear description of God’s Plan. (Ephesians 1:7-10) “In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.” Salvation is all God. Because salvation is all God, we can be relieved that no effort on our part will obtain our salvation and once saved, we also can be relieved that lack of effort on our part can’t lose our salvation. Jesus is the Plan; “In Him”, “His blood”, “His grace”, “He made”, “His will”, “His good pleasure”, “He purposed in Himself”, “He might gather together in one all things in Christ”, “in Him”. What greater assurance can there be than the fact that our salvation is complete and intact because, Jesus is the Plan? When asked about the future, our reply is Jesus is the Plan. The urgency of God’s Plan is not to modify life. The urgency of God’s Plan is Salvation for the lost; that’s not someone modified, that’s someone brought from death to life. Sharing the fact that Jesus is the Plan is not about making life better, it’s about offering God’s ONLY plan of Salvation (“redemption”, “forgiveness”, “grace”). Our future, our mission, as those brought from death to life, is to share the only hope this world has, Jesus is the Plan. If we have learned anything from 2020 we have learned that our world is fragile and things can change quickly. In the year 2021 we will be met with great challenges: government, finances, health, society, safe-
ty, and so forth. Let me be clear, a vaccine for Covid is not our rescue, our savior, our hope, or our future. Yes, the vaccine will help with the immediate need, but we must be urgent, we must be on task, we must champion the truth that Jesus is the Plan. In this frag-ile world the most important message for everyone; Jesus is the Plan. In 2021 I’m looking forward to seeing how God will direct the SJBA as we serve together in local commu-nities, in our nation, and around the world. Jesus is the Plan!! Be in prayer as we begin January with a fresh look at how we can serve together in God’s Kingdom Work.
Brother Roger Quotes: The church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ...God became man for no other purpose. --C.S. Lewis Sometimes the Lord calms the storm. Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms his child. -Unknown How many hundreds of little decisions and dozens of big ones are you making without a life compass? It’s a bit uncomfortable to admit, but is it possible that you are living life without a defined, unique sense of pur-pose? …not talking about the general call of following Jesus, but the specific, “for such a time as this” orien-tation of your life (Esther 4:14). If you don’t know your personal assignment from God, what are you actually spending your time on? -Will Mancini (“Younique” -Designing the Life that God Dreamed for You)
