Needles and Notions 3.75 mm (US 5) double pointed needles or size to obtain gauge Tapestry needle Crochet hook size 3.5 mm Polyester stuffing

Tension / gauge 25-26 sts/28 rows to 4 in/10 cm Stockinette stitch

Pattern

This is the basic pattern, the colour variations are up to your imagination.

With colour of choice CO 8 stitches. Distribute evenly onto four needles (2 sts each needle). Close to rnd, careful not to twist any stitches. Knit 1 rnd.

Increase section: Rnd 1: Kfb into all sts – 16 sts. Rnd 2: Knit. Rnd 3: *K1, kfb; rep from * to end of rnd – 24 sts. Rnd 4: Knit. Rnd 5: *K2, kfb; rep from * to end of rnd – 32 sts. Rnd 6: Knit. Rnd 7: *K3, kfb; rep from * to end of rnd – 40 sts. Rnd 8: Knit. Rnd 9: *K4, kfb; rep from * to end of rnd – 48 sts.

Knit 6 rnds even. (This is the part where you would want to put some colourwork.)

Decrease section; Rnd 1: *K1, ssk, k to last 2 sts on needle, k2tog; rep from * 3 times more – 40 sts. Rnd 2: Knit.

Repeat these 2 rnds until there are 4 sts on each needle – 16 sts.

Cut yarn at about 20 in. Use tapestry needle to thread yarn through all remaining stitches (if you do it twice it looks nicer).

With crochet hook make loop and chain until you have a chain about 5-6 in long. Pull yarn through last chain and secure to top of ornament making a loop for hanging. Weave in end.

Tips: Weave in end of lower half in before you start decreasing for the upper half. Thread yarn through cast-on edge to close hole. Place marker for beg of rnd. Enjoy!
