    These arrangements may be used in several ways: asaccompanimentforgroupsingingofcarols,withorwithouta soloinstrumentplayingthemelody,andwithorwithoutkeyboard asaccompanimentforavocalorinstrumentalsoloistsinging/ playing the melody asaccompanimentforpiano/organplayingofhymnalversion (seeHymnalIndexonpage3forcompatiblehymnalversions) asanalternateaccompanimentforoneormorestanzasofa carol(withorwithoutorgan/pianoorsoloinstrument)

    Althoughafewaccidentalsoccurinthesearrangements,thosenotesmaybeomittedbythebeginningchoir,ifdesired.Shakesmayalsobeomitted.

    Carols#1-#5areallinthekeyofFmajorandmaybeplayedasamedley.Anintroductiontoeachhymncanbeprovidedbykeyboard(playingthefinalphraseofthecarol)orbybells/chimes(ringingthefinalphraseofthemelodyline.)

    Thisentiresetofcarolsmaybeplayedasamedleywithpianoororgan.Attheendofcarols#5,#7,#9,#10and#11,thepianist/organistshouldrepeatthefinalchordfollowedbythedominant7thchordofthenextkey.

    Christmas Carol AccompanimentsprovidesopportunitiesforhandbellandhandchimechoirstoringchordstoaccompanyfamiliarChristmascarols.Theaccompanimentsinthiscollectionarewrittenfor2,3,4or5octaveshandbellsorhandchimes.Theyareveryaccessibleforbe-ginningchoirs,butarealsowonderfulformoreadvancedgroupslook-ingforwaystoparticipateincarolsingingwithminimalpreparation.

    The carol melodies may be sung or played by instruments. Instrumen-talmelodypartsforCtreble,Bbtreble,andCbassinstrumentsareprovidedonpages28-39. Cinstrument(treble):flute,violin,oboe Bbinstrument(treble):clarinet,trumpet,sopranosaxophone Cinstrument(bass):cello,trombone,bassoon

    Songsheetsforgroupsingingarealsoprovided(pages40-42),offeringwonderfulsing-alongopportunitiesfortheaudiencesofhandbellandhandchimechoirs,particularlythoseinseniorcitizencentersandnurs-ing homes.
