The spirit of Christmaswill be alive and well atCessnock West PublicSchool’s Carols by Cand -le light next Wednesday,December 4.

School principalCathie Ferguson saidthat previous Carols byCandlelight eveningshave been well-support-ed by the wider local com-munity and have provid-ed a great night for thewhole family.

“Our school P and C iscontinually striving toraise much-needed fundsfor improvements andquality additions for ourstudents to enjoy,” Mrs.Ferguson said.

“Large projects such asthe soft fall in the infants’playground aren’t possi-ble without a majorfundraiser.

“Last year’s eventraised almost $9000.”

The proceeds from thisyear’s event will assistthe P and C in reachingtheir goal in providingthe primary studentswith a child-friendly sur-face that will enablethem to enjoy a largerrange of outdoor activi-ties at a safer level.

“An event such as thisis not possible without ahard-working and dedi-cated P and C and alsogenerous support andassistance from a num-ber of local businesses,”Mrs. Ferguson said.

The carols will be held

in the infants’ play-ground and will featureperformances by theschool choir, studentsand teachers and specialguests.

Entry will be by goldcoin donation whichincludes a free carols

booklet. Food, drinks,novelties and showbagswill be available.

Bucketty and District Tidy Bush and Rural FireBrigade invite all to Carols Under the Stars at theConvict Wall on Saturday, December 21.

Now in its 16th year, the Bucketty Carols are famedfor “singing in the season” at one of the region’s mosthistoric locations – nestled at the intersection of theGreat North Road, George Downs Drive and SettlersRoad, the Convict Wall is a picturesque naturalamphitheatre in the bush.

Join families, friends, firies and special guestband The Ball Brothers for a night of more-ish foodand fabulous music, with all proceeds going toBucketty and District Rural Fire Brigade and TidyBush local volunteer organisations.

Fabulous prizes will be raffled, which in past yearshave included luxury hampers, local delicacies andhandicrafts, plus superb paintings and prints by localartists.

The Murray’s Run Quilters – Diane Bell, JudyWaite, Lynne Sheppard, Marian Tuson and RobynJones – are donating a magnificent handmade quiltfor the raffle, which took thousands of “woman-hours”to make.

Valued at more than $500, the quilt features a selec-tion of Australiana-themed fabrics.

The night will start at 6.30pm and Santa will arrivein the fire truck at 8.30pm with gifts for the kids (par-ents, don’t forget to bring you know what, clearlynamed, for you know who).

Entry is $10 per adult and children under 18 arefree. BYOG and a blanket or chair; food will be avail-able and candles and song sheets supplied.
