I can’t believe I am writing this letter already; 2019 has flown by but what a year it has been. I have been lucky enough to have travelled plenty, either doing lectures or promoting my book,

and have completed some wonderful interior design jobs too. Some of the things we have found along the way you will see here in our Christmas Brochure.

Two things that give me so much joy are Christmas and entertaining, so this time of year is a particular favourite of mine. I always have the more is more approach and have some treasured pieces

which I’ve collected over the years.

It’s not about having a totally different look each year, but having the excitement of opening up the Christmas decorations box and finding some old friends as well as adding new ones.

Christmas presents can be difficult too, but finding things for loved ones should be fun and exciting, rather than a chore. I hope we can help you find something for everyone in your life.

I find Christmas is a wonderful time for having fun with your table and adults and children all enjoy a joyful table of decorations. Whether you go for a garland down the centre of the table with decorations interspersed or put a tablecloth on place your favourite decorations down the centre I think everything works as long as you perhaps choose a loose colour theme to work with. Finish with some candles for the evening or flowers or greenery for the day and you are ready to go.

I love nothing more than a game of cards or backgammon by the fire. There is nothing like a tiny bit of competitive spirit to get everyone going! Decorating the tree has long been a favourite part of Christmas for me. From being a child when we used real candles, to the collections of things gathered over the years that are like old friends coming out of their box each year. I prefer not to have a theme as I love the mixture of pieces that you should collect over your lifetime. I adore these vintage inspired decorations we have this Christmas and hope a few will be making their way onto my tree!

I love these champagne coloured light up trees which can be placed inside or out and with decorations or not…put a mixture of sizes together to create a Christmas forest and you could always place some of these fabulous giant baubles around the trees to reflect the light. Otherwise use the baubles to hang as decorations on velvet ribbon, they will make such a statement. To finish this gold, silver and white look you can always add some of our favourite woodland creatures too.

There is nothing more delicious and welcoming than walking into a home that smells divine. If you are entertaining this Christmas let your guests feel extra welcome by giving them an evocative and wonderful smell to arrive to… Candles are always lovely and so warming on a cold evening, the bitter orange is particularly good at this time of year as it smells deliciously Christmassy without being overbearing. I love the pot-pourri which not only looks beautiful but it gives off a very subtle scent. Equally if you use these glass jars of liquid essence you never need to worry about blowing out a candle.

MAKE TIME TO

Get Organised The New Year is the perfect time to get organised following Christmas. I find my desk is the first place to pile up during the holidays. There are always lots of lovely photographs and cards around the place, I like to use these beautiful box-files to keep thing the things I don’t want to part with as they still look tidy but everything is tucked away.
