DEVONPORT Summer Events Guide Christmas Events 2010 November Christmas Light up & Dedication Thursday 25 November, 7.00 - 9.00pm Roundhouse Park (Mersey Foreshore). Devonport’s Christmas Light-up is always a special occasion. A great concert of family entertainment is planned with dancers, musicians and Christmas songs, before Santa arrives to light up Devonport with fireworks. Presented by Devonport City Council. Carols by Candlelight Sunday 12 December, 7.00pm (wet weather date Tuesday 14 December) Roundhouse Park, Mersey Foreshore. As darkness falls and candles are lit, savour the magical atmosphere and join in singing the traditional Christmas carols with talented local soloists, the community choir and bands. Presented by Soroptimist International Devonport and the Lions Club of Devonport. 9 Lessons and Carols Sunday 12 December, 7.00pm Waverly Road Church, Don. Devonport Apex Christmas Parade Thursday 16 December, 7.00pm (wet weather date Tuesday 21 December) Devonport CBD This year’s traditional Christmas Parade will be loads of fun with music and a wide variety of floats. The Parade will begin at the old Motor’s site, Parker Street. Enter your float in the Best Float Competitions; prizes awarded after the parade. Entry forms available from Devonport City Council. An athletics event that showcases the best of our track and cycling talents over 2 days with an action packed program. All junior entries will receive a prize at the Mersey Yacht Club foreshore at 12.30pm. Volunteers and expert fishermen will be on hand for assistance and advice. Register at The Boat Shack, Wharf Access Road 6423 1676. Saturday 8 January, 5.30am-2pm Senior section Off-shore starting at the Mersey Yacht Club. Weigh in at 2.00pm. Register at Mountain Designs 6424 8699. Devonport Triathlon Sat 15 & Sun 16 January 2011. Saturday morning, the Trikids will be in action, so come along and support the kids while they have a go at this great sport. Why not volunteer and help the kids in transition and become part of the atmosphere that makes the Devonport Triathlon such a great event. Sunday, the best age group athletes in the country will be vying for spots in the Australian Age Group team heading off to the ITU World Age Group Championships in Beijing, China later in the year. The afternoon will see the elite hit the streets of Devonport. It’s a sprint distance race on a super-fast and super challenging course.
