Second Sunday of Advent As John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord, so we, too, must prepare for his coming by being Jesus’ disciples – his witnesses in the world.

Our readings today give us hope that Jesus is coming, but also offer a challenge to prepare the way before him. John the Baptist’s words in today’s Gospel point us to Jesus while challenging us to repent. In order to prepare the way and make straight his paths, we must be willing to sometimes go out on a limb and be that voice crying in the wilderness, proclaiming the mightiness of our Savior. Food, Friends, & Prayer for High School Students and Young Adults

Soup and Prayer and Social Justice The Advent Soup and Prayer nights are back with a twist. December 15th and 22nd at 6:00 pm we share a light supper, pray together as a

community, and hear a talk about the Church’s Social Teaching that will conclude by 8pm. All are welcome, and babysitting for the young ones will be provided. A great way for the whole family to slow down in a hectic month and celebrate the Season of Advent.

Women’s Advent Faith Study continues December 16th from 9:00 -11:00 am. We are all longing for a sense of greater meaning in our lives. We explore how God’s plan for the world gives each of us great dignity and purpose. This study is free through sponsorship by the CWL. Babysitting is available onsite if needed. Please contact Lisa at the parish office if you require a babysitter.

CHALICE – is a Catholic organization that supports children, families and communities in developing countries. You can also sponsor a child. As a family check out www.chalice.ca and consider what your family can afford to purchase to help others. Christmas Hampers You can start bringing the non-perishable items. The perishable items can be brought in at a later date. We are accepting monetary donations to use for the purchase of needed hamper items, place within provided envelopes in the collection basket or drop off at the parish office. If you have rosaries to donate, please drop off at the office. In addition to our Christmas Hamper project, this year we will be partnering with Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region to supply smaller hampers to 22 Regina seniors who are currently receiving home care and are low income. You will be provided with a list of requested items to be purchased, placed within the supplied bags, and returned to the parish by Dec. 17. Home care staff will deliver the hampers to the clients on Dec. 18. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. CHRISTMAS FLOWERS If you wish to donate money for Christmas flowers, please place your donation in the envelope provided in the Sunday collection boxes or in an envelope marked: “Christmas Flowers”. Abusada will once again be selling holy articles he has brought from the Holy Land. It is done by family and friends from Bethlehem and the proceeds go to help families with young Christian children in Bethlehem for Christmas.
