As we approach year-end, you may want to consider a tax advantage that some parishioners use to fulfill their pledge or giving. Under federal tax code, a stock you have held for at least one year that has appreciated qualifies as capital gains income. When you donate that stock to St. Mary’s, you are permitted to deduct the entire value of the stock as a contribution and avoid the capital gains tax. You may also donate your R.M.D. tax-free to St. Mary’s. If you are 70 ½, a direct transfer from your retirement account qualifies as your Required Minimum Distribution (R.M.D.) but doesn’t increase your adjusted gross income. If you would like your donation to be your 2018 prepaid pledge or for further information, please contact Don Davis, Treasurer, or Melissa Lewis, Parish Administrator.

Angel Tree Thank you to all our “angels” at St. Mary’s
who helped with the Angel Tree project this year! Below are two stories from the party for the children ...
Two sisters were so excited to receive their gifts. They were amazed because one asked for a bike with no training wheels and that is exactly what she got. The other loved her bike and couldn’t believe it but was also so excited because she asked for hair accessories and got so many. She said she had never had such nice headbands. A mother asked us how we do this. We explained how parishioners adopt each child and she said “one family really buys this stuff for my children?” When we replied yes she said “I didn’t know there were people that nice and who cared that much.”
