$150,000 Challenge Gift Pledged to Expand CHRISTUS St. Mary’s ClinicSince day one, the busy little CHRISTUS St. Mary’s Clinic has been bursting at the seams. With each passing month it continues to care for more and more people in need and at times is so busy that patients will sit in their cars waiting for their turn to be cared for. Th ere is no stopping this little clinic – it’s time to expand!

CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare is delighted to announce the St. Mary’s Challenge. A wonderful, anonymous benefactor of St. Mary’s Clinic has jumped up and pledged $150,000 toward the Clinic’s expansion in the form of a challenge grant. Th e grant challenges CHRISTUS Foundation to raise $300,000 in additional funds for the clinic. Th e Challenge Grant and expansion it fuels will enable St. Mary’s to bring the

community aff ordable, high-quality care that is out of reach for so many.

Building on MomentumSister Rosanne Popp, M.D., Director of St. Mary’s Clinic located on Wayside Drive near

the I-45 intersection, is thrilled knowing that upon

completion of the generous challenge grant, the facility’s number of exam rooms

and medical practitioners will double, and the Clinic’s ability to provide aff ordable healthcare to low-income and uninsured Houstonians will dramatically improve, caring for approximately 4,000 more patients a year.

Making a Profound Impact

Candy and Ernie Cronin, M.D. were honored at the 9th annual Spring Luncheon on March 19. Th e Cronin’s were recognized for their 30-year leadership of Operation San José - a medical mission dedicated to helping children Face the World with a Smile. Regis Philbin, one of TV’s most beloved personalities fi lled the sold-out

River Oaks Country Club with laughter as he talked about his life and career in entertainment. More than 550 people were in attendance helping achieve a new fundraising high of $320,000 which will fund future Operation San José medical missions.

Working with a generous individual and Allegiance Bank, CHRISTUS Foundation added a second Healthy Living Mobile Clinic in December. The new clinic will immediately roll out onto the streets and begin caring for under-served people and communities throughout greater Houston.

Because of donor support, in the last ten years the Mobile Clinic has grown from providing healthcare to 8,000 people in 2002 to more than 18,000 in 2012. The Mobile Clinic outreach program is designed specifically to assist the greater Houston community, especially the elderly and very young, through the promotion of wellness, health education, and health screenings.

Second Mobile Clinic Hits the Streets

School-Based Clinics Preserve a Healthy Learning Environment

Based in sixteen low-income area schools throughout greater Houston, CHRISTUS School Based Clinics provide on-campus healthcare to students suffering minor everyday maladies, as well as children who may need referral to a primary care physician.

Backed by generous donors and a dedicated staff of Nurse Practitioners, CHRISTUS School Based Clinics continue to gain momentum. In 2012, the program expanded adding five new schools, and in 2013 plans are already underway to enhance care offerings to include dental and counseling services.

For many uninsured children and families, CHRISTUS School-Based Clinics are a

convenient, unintimidating way to access much-needed medical care and referrals.

• 5,290 times sick or injured children visited a CHRISTUS School Based Clinic

• 815 state-required tests administered for vision, hearing and scoliosis

• Launch of Bodies in Motion summer program, designed by School Based Clinic nurse practitioners

• Numerous mandatory sports physicals for all students participating in sports
