Working with a generous individual and Allegiance Bank, CHRISTUS Foundation added a second Healthy Living Mobile Clinic in December. The new clinic will immediately roll out onto the streets and begin caring for under-served people and communities throughout greater Houston.

Because of donor support, in the last ten years the Mobile Clinic has grown from providing healthcare to 8,000 people in 2002 to more than 18,000 in 2012. The Mobile Clinic outreach program is designed specifically to assist the greater Houston community, especially the elderly and very young, through the promotion of wellness, health education, and health screenings.

Please support the mobile healing mission by making a gift today at CHRISTUSFoundation.org

Second Mobile Clinic Hits the Streets

School-Based Clinics Preserve a Healthy Learning Environment

Based in sixteen low-income area schools throughout greater Houston, CHRISTUS School Based Clinics provide on-campus healthcare to students suffering minor everyday maladies, as well as children who may need referral to a primary care physician.

Backed by generous donors and a dedicated staff of Nurse Practitioners, CHRISTUS School Based Clinics continue to gain momentum. In 2012, the program expanded adding five new schools, and in 2013 plans are already underway to enhance care offerings to include dental and counseling services.

For many uninsured children and families, CHRISTUS School-Based Clinics are a

convenient, unintimidating way to access much-needed medical care and referrals.

To help Keep Children Healthy visit CHRISTUSFoundation.org to learn more.

Program Highlights From 2012

• 5,290 times sick or injured children visited a CHRISTUS School Based Clinic

• 815 state-required tests administered for vision, hearing and scoliosis

• Launch of Bodies in Motion summer program, designed by School Based Clinic nurse practitioners

• Numerous mandatory sports physicals for all students participating in sports

Al Parks, a long-time friend and supporter of CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinic stops by to tour the new unit and gets his blood pressure checked by Laura Clay, RN.

Companies joining the CHRISTUS Corporate Partners program have been instrumental in generating donations, lending their hands to building gardens at the School-Based Clinics, feeding the homeless at Our Daily Bread, stuffing wellness bags for the Mobile Clinic, initiating clothing and food drives during the holidays, and teaching nutrition classes for the first ever School-Based Clinic’s Nutrition Fair.

David Armijo of H&R Block a CHRISTUS Foundation Board Member and Corporate Partner, high-five’s a proud student – the pair celebrate their hands-on work in a CHRISTUS School-Based Clinic garden.
