Detection Summary Circular Dichroism detection offers high sensitivity for chiral compounds
Chiral compounds absorb to a different extent for left and right circularly polarized light
The detection is based on the difference between right-hand and left-hand circular polarizations
This technique is relatively insensitive to dynamic temperature and solvent conditions (gradients)
This detector is unique to JASCO

Operating Principal The light emitted by light source is collimated by
the lens and introduced to the polarizer where the light is linearly polarized
The light is then dispersed by the diffraction grating and directed to pass through the photo-elastic modulator (PEM)
The PEM modulates the light to left and right circularly polarized light (LCP and RCP) which are alternately changed at an interval of 50 kHZ
The modulated light is directed to the flow cell by the lens
