First 500 Ford Mustangs for Europe sell out in 30 seconds
Ford recently opened up the order books for its 2015 Mustang in Europe, and within 30 seconds the first 500 cars destined for the old continent were snapped up. In an interesting move, Ford Motor Company opened up the order books during last weekend’s final for the UEFA Champions League, which saw Real Madrid CF beat Club Atlético de Madrid 4-1 after extra time. It proved successful, with more than 9,300 orders garnered from Mustang fans hopeful to be among the first 500 owners of the sixth-generation pony car in Europe.
The 500 new Mustangs were allocated across 20 countries. Ford will in the next few weeks contact the buyers from each of these countries who were quickest to place their reservation to let them know they have been successful. Each buyer will then be invited to complete their order at a dealership later this year but will have to wait until 2015 for delivery. Deliveries here are expected to start this fall. Ford limited the first 500 examples to either Race Red for buyers interested in the coupe or Magnetic Silver for the convertible. The buyers also have to choose from either the Mustang EcoBoost model or Mustang GT. The base Mustang equipped with a V-6 won’t be offered in Europe. All 500 examples will feature Ford’s latest SYNC system; navigation; heated and ventilated seats; Park Assist; black leather trim; chrome detailing; and 19-inch alloy wheels. This is the first time in the Mustang's 50-year history that the car is being sold in Europe by Ford. Previous generations were typically sold in limited numbers by third party importers.

How Ford will push sales of the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost and discourage buying the V6? By Drew Phillips - May 15, 2014 – 6:23 am ~ http://mustangsdaily.com/
Ford Mustang purists will tell you that it’s a V8 or nothing, but there’s always been a place for pony cars with a few
less cylinders. A good number of the early models had a six-cylinder under the hood, and recent sales figures
show that over half of the current Mustangs purchased are V6-powered. There was even a four-cylinder option
available through the 1970s and 1980s, the pinnacle of which was the Mustang SVO from 1984 to 1986 that has
gained somewhat of a cult following.
Even so, we weren’t surprised to hear the groans and whines from the Mustang faithful when Ford announced the
2015 model lineup would include a four-cylinder engine. And we can’t blame them. After all, enthusiasts want
performance. But (unfortunately) not all Mustang buyers are enthusiasts, which means they will often won’t opt for
the V8.
However, getting Americans to buy a V6 is one thing, but convincing them to plunk their hard earned money down
for a four-cylinder Mustang might be a bit more tricky, especially when it comes with a premium price. It’s
impossible to tell how the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost will sell, but we have a feeling Ford won’t have any trouble
getting them off dealer’s lots. Here’s why:
The V6 won’t be offered in Europe
You can’t buy something if it’s not even offered. Early rumors suggested that Ford was going to drop the V6 all
together for 2015, and while that didn’t happen Ford did announce the V6 wasn’t going to be available in Europe
or any other major global markets. That means the base Mustang in the rest of the world will be the EcoBoost.
Given how much fuel costs in Europe and other places and the cost of insuring the GT model with the 5.0-liter V8,
we imagine a larger majority of buyers will opt for the EcoBoost.

Did you know? How Ford will push sales of the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost and
discourage buying the V6?
You can’t buy the V6 with the Premium Package
One way a manufacturer can push buyers into certain models is with how they offer packages, and this appears
to be the case with the 2015 Mustang. The recently leaked order guide revealed that the V6 model won’t be
available with the Premium Package, which means it will only come with the base interior and black cloth seats.
Any customers wanting the upgraded interior and leather seats will have to move up to the EcoBoost model.
The V6 won’t be available with the Performance Package
Speaking of fun, Ford will be offering a Performance Package once again for the 2015 Mustang. But unlike the
current model, it won’t be available for the V6. The upgraded suspension, brakes and wheels will be only be
offered for the EcoBoost and GT models. Again, the V6 is left out.
The V6 will have limited options
In addition to the V6 not being available with the Premium Package, Ford has limited the options available to the
model as well. Want the Recaro seats? You’re out of luck. You can’t even get them in cloth. How about the
TrackApps feature? Sorry, that only comes on the EcoBoost or GT models. The only real significant options for
the V6 are Equipment Group 051A (body-colored spoiler, upgraded 18-inch wheels and a 6-way power driver
seat), a Security Package (locking center console, anti-theft system and wheel locking kit), Ruby Red and Triple
Yellow paint, a 3.55 rear end, reverse park assist, spare wheel and tire, all-weather floor mats and a spoiler
delete. Basically, if you want anything nice or fun on your 2015 Mustang you don’t want a V6 and have to upgrade
to the EcoBoost.
The V6 only comes with 17 or 18 inch wheels
The current Mustang V6 comes with a wide variety of wheel options including a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels
included in the Performance Package. Unfortunately, the only wheels available on the V6 for 2015 are the base
17-inch wheels and the 18-inch wheels that come with Equipment Group 051A. Unfortunately neither look great. If
you want a decent wheel, especially in anything bigger than 18-inches, you have to upgrade to the EcoBoost
model that comes with either 18, 19 or 20-inch wheels depending on the package.
So there you have it. Why will the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost sell so well? Because no one will want to buy the V6.
Did you know? Rehagen Racing’s Dean Martin scores double wins at Belle Isle By Drew Phillips - June 1, 2014 – 1:31 pm ~ http://mustangsdaily.com/
It was a stellar weekend for the Ford Mustang this weekend at the Pirelli World Challenge races at Belle Isle this
weekend, as Dean Martin of Rehagen Racing won both races in the GTS class. Martin, who made his World
Challenge debut in this event last year, how now won three of the four races he’s competed in at the Belle Isle
circuit in Detroit.
Martin started off his dominant weekend by posting the fastest qualifying session on Friday and then leading flag-
to-flag for the first race on Saturday.
“This one’s a little better (than last year),” Martin confirmed. “After the controversy at Barber, with a brand new
car here, it’s a great morale booster for us. The Ford Mustang needed it. It’s a great comeback for everyone at
Rehagen Racing to get this new car ready.”
The win put Martin in pole position for the second race on Sunday, who once again held off the competition to
take his second checkered flag in two days. Fellow Mustang driver Tony Buffomante of Capaldi Racing finished
close behind, notching his second podium of the year. Martin is now third overall in the standings.
“We are committed to doing a full season in the series with our Mustang; the Mustangs really show their strength
here in Detroit, our home territory,” Martin said. “It’s really great to bring home a win for Ford here. Hats off to our
crew, brand new car that was originally built as a show car and we tore it down and took what was left from the
race car from Barber.”
The next Pirelli World Challenge race will be at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI from June 19-21.

Roush giving away Phase 3 Mustang SEMA show car ~ (SEMA Show takes place
November 4 - November 7, 2014 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.)
You’ll probably recognize this Mustang, as Roush debuted it at the SEMA show in 2012 and has been showing it
around the country ever since. After all, it’s not easy to forget the custom two-tone Sherwin-Williams paint job. The
car wasn’t all about looks, though, and under the hood is a Ford Racing Aluminator crate motor topped with
Roush’s supercharger system fitted with their Phase 3 kit boosting the engine to 700 horsepower and 585 lb-ft
torque. The Mustang is also fully loaded with tons of Roush goodies including their competition brake package, full
suspension system, 20-inch wheels, custom Recaro seats and more.
If that all sounds like your kind of car, then listen up. Roush has announced they will be giving away the custom
Mustang to one lucky winner. To enter just head over to www.roushcontest.com and register. All you have to do is
fill out a short form and you’re good to go (assuming you’re at least 18 years of age and a United States resident).
Registration ends October 31st, and a random drawing will be held on November 6th to select the winner.
Good luck!
