IN-PERSON SERVICES RESUME Calvary Lutheran Church will begin regular services on Saturday, June 6th at 6 PM and Sunday, June 7th at 9 AM. Holy Communion will be observed at both services.
Guidelines: We will try to follow the recent COVID-19 Guidelines for Places of Worship and Providers of Religious Services from the State of Illinois for the safety of all parishioners. We will also be social distancing by allowing only three people per pew with one empty pew between. In the case of family, you may sit together. We ask that you follow the ushers’ direction when being seated. You must bring your own mask. If you feel sick or uncomfortable coming to church too soon, please stay home. The church will be sanitized between services. We ask that you call the office this week and request attendance at Saturday night service or Sunday morning service to limit the number of worshippers to 60 per service. Some of these practices will change as time goes on and we will adjust for the situation.
COMMUNION FOR SHUT-IN’S
Pastor Michael Stoerger (St. Paul’s Woodworth) and Pastor Alex McNally (Faith AALC) will be available to give Holy Communion to shut-in’s at home by appointment.
CONFIRMATION UPDATE
Pastor McNally will begin the last Confirmation class on Wednesday, June 3rd. Questioning will be on Wednesday, June 10th at 6 PM with confirmands, parents, and elders. Rite of Confirmation date in church is to be decided later.
MEETINGS ALLOWED ON PREMISES All organizations (quilters, etc.) can meet again. We will use the basement for all
meetings and provide disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer. Each person will have to bring their own mask. Social distancing is suggested. Each organization’s chairman
will be required to wipe down all used tables, chairs, door handles, handrails, etc. after their meeting. (per Iroquois County Health Department guidelines)
JUNE VOTERS’ ASSEMBLY – JUNE 9th – 7 PM
The June Elders’ Meeting and June Voters’ Assembly will take place as scheduled on Tuesday, June 9th. Elders meet at 6 PM, Voters’ at 7 PM. If you are comfortable doing so, please attend. Our quorum for being able to conduct business is 20 voting members present.
We pray for your patience during this time. No matter what Satan throws at us, we
believe with prayer and Christ Jesus that we can and will get through this. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

THANK YOU to all our dedicated volunteers who helped with Sunday School and C.E.C. this past year.
We so appreciate your time and talents that you share with our youth. We could not have these classes
without your help. We were disappointed for everything to come to a complete halt but pray that we
will be able to resume in the fall with Rally Day. Have a safe and healthy summer.
With much regret, but for everyone’s safety, the VBS Committee has decided to
cancel VBS this year. We pray that the Lord will guide and bless our plans for 2021.

Preschool News! Greetings,
We all know the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make some lemonade!” Well, that is exactly what we’ve been doing. The school year did not go as planned. We did not get to have an Easter party, we didn’t get to sing in church one more time, we did not get to properly say good-bye to our students, students did not get to have their preschool graduation, and I could go on and on. We did make the best of the situation
though! From mid-March through May, we prepared “homework packets” that parents picked up. The packets were filled with activities for math, science, literacy, handwriting, alphabet letter practice, and even art! During this time, we’ve also been able to connect with our students through Zoom. Using Zoom, we have been able to sing, dance, play games, have show and tell, read stories, and so much more! A few of our favorites were going on a virtual Disney World adventure with Miss Tina and cooking with Mrs. Ahlden! It has been a blessing to have technology to stay connected with our kiddos!
We pray that seeds of Jesus’ never-ending love has been planted in every child that has come into our care! Knowing that HE is with them wherever they go and whatever they do and each can pray to HIM anytime, is one value that we try to instill in each child! Join us in praying regularly for every preschool family!
We would also like to give a big shout out to Pastor McNally, Ben, the Preschool Board, the Elders, to the congregation and community that support us here at Calvary Preschool! You have helped to make our 36th year possible!
Serving Our Savior,
Julie and Tina
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God gives the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
Are you interested in choir?
Let us know! We are currently gauging interest in starting a
mixed choir at Calvary. The choir would consist
of singers roughly high school-age through
adulthood. Should interest be substantial
enough, the choir is tentatively planned to begin
this fall and would sing most Sundays.
If you are interested, please call the church office. Thanks!
