Disaster Relief Update from Mike Baumgartner
I arrived in Arkansas last week to start helping after the tornados. Before I even got there, major flooding happened in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze areas. I helped set up our operation at the Mayflower Church of Christ in May-flower, AR. We had a good crew of experienced Disaster Assistance People there so I left for the Florida Panhandle. I arrived on Sunday night, got things set up on Monday and started work on Tuesday. The first 8 days in Mayflower, we served 3,656 meals, handed out many loads of other food and cleaning supplies and helped cleanup several dam-aged houses. In just 3 days in Florida, we have served 2,090 meals, handed out a semi-load of supplies and had our work crews mucking houses. Much work remains here in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze areas. We are setup at the Gateway church, cooking meals and housing the volunteers. Don Hudson is setup at the Gulf Breeze Church of Christ, handing out meals and conducting our outreach program. Our crew is also continuing to help in Mayflower. Volunteers are needed to help with meals and to gut houses that were flood-ed. Many homes had 3 to 4 feet of water in them and in just a few weeks we will need drywall crews. If you can help or bring a group, just email me the details. [email protected] Donation information is located on our website www.disasterassistancecoc.com there also is a link to our facebook page where we post daily photos and updates. Please pray for the thousands of people whose lives have been forever changed and for us as we show the love of the Lord to them by just provid-ing a simple meal and a helping hand.
