SOCIAL ACTION FUNDRAISING
BREAKFAST
The Spring fundraiser will be held on May 15, 2016 following the 9:30AM Mass. Adult tickets are $8.00; children between 5-12 years of age $3.00; under 5 free. We were so pleasantly surprised at the turnout for our fall breakfast, and hope for a great turnout again. In anticipation of this, we will have adequate tables set up. The committee will be selling tickets after the 9:30Am and 11:30Am masses on May 1st and May 8th. Tickets will also be available at the rectory during office hours, through members of the social action committee, or by calling Barbara Bessinger at 203-389-7709 or emailing at [email protected], Reserved tickets can be picked up and paid for the morning of the breakfast. Proceeds from the breakfast will assist the committee with our ministry programs. There will be a kids craft room as well as a raffle of theme baskets during the breakfast. We look forward to seeing you all on May 15, 2016! !
EASTER DUTY The obligation to receive Holy Communion between the First Sunday of Lent and Trinity Sunday extends through May 22, 2016.
“THANK YOU” Easter Food Baskets and “Come to the Table”
The Social Action Committee wishes to “thank everyone” for their
support of the Easter Food Basket program which provided (170)
food baskets. The committee distributed (150) baskets and canned
hams to (5) groups: Clinton Avenue School, Troup School,
Amistad School in New Haven; St. Rose Church, Fair Haven; and
Birmingham Health Care, Ansonia. In addition, (20) families in
the area received a generous supply of food and gift cards which
were donated by parishioners. The committee also thanks the
donations from members of the choir; the assistance of the
catechism classes and the many contributions provided by the
Knights of Columbus Trinity Council #5467.
Just a reminder about “Come to the Table” which provides non-
perishable food for a family at any time during the year based on
request. If you know of a family in need, please call Denise in the
rectory office (387-7119). All family names will be kept strictly
confidential.
As you might expect, the food pantry is always in need of new
inventory. Financial contributions and donations of non-perishable
food are always needed. Items include canned fruit, jelly/jam,
peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned potatoes, beans, cereal, macaroni
and cheese, soup, spaghetti sauce, tuna fish, vegetables, coffee and
tea, juices, beef stew, and toiletries. Please leave your donations in
the rear of either church. Thank you.

Easter Egg Hunt. THANK YOU!! The Ladies Guild Easter Egg Hunt was celebrated by over 45 children and their families! Chairman Montse Lopes-Vila and committee scattered eggs (candy) over the lawn as a symbol of rebirth and resurrection. Thanks to all who participated! It was a beautiful community project.
Please be aware that there are now stricter legal and ethical guidelines regarding the dissemina-
tion of patient information from hospitals to churches and clergy. In addition, today’s shorter hospital stays make timely pastoral visit difficult at best. Therefore, if you have occasion to be hos-pitalized and desire pastoral support, you or a family member should do two things. Notify the rectory of the hospitalization as soon as possible. Also, upon admission to the hospital you will be asked if you desire to have your religious affiliation noted as part of your medical record. Please state both your denomination and parish. If you fail to do either of the above, your parish priest may have no way of knowing your needs.
