From the Desk of Father Jonathan I know many of you took the period of Lent very seriously this year. Some of you shared with me what you gave up for the 40 days, or the other sacrifices you made to share in the redemptive suffering of Christ. We are now in the 50 days of Easter! In this season, the Church invites us to rejoice in the Lord's victory over sin and death. How will you celebrate these 50 days? The best way, perhaps, is following the daily mass readings. I know that because of work and family obligations, it isn't easy for all of you to go to daily mass. Nevertheless, there are many ways to access the readings from your home, work, or phone. If you prefer a hard copy of the readings, I suggest the booklet "Magnificat" which you can order for delivery. If you are comfortable with digital access, you can go to www.usccb.org/readings or you can download one of many applications on your phone. I use an App called "Universalis." It contains not only the daily readings, but also the Breviary...the collection of prayers that all priests, deacons and many lay people pray every day. However you choose to mark these 50 days....don't let the Season pass by without celebrating the Resurrec-tion of the Lord!
God bless! Father Jonathan
+ REST IN PEACE + Please pray for Anna Russo and all the faithful departed

REFLECTING ON GOD’S WORD
ON THE ROAD One central metaphor employed to describe the Christian life is a journey. In today’s second reading, Peter addresses the early Christian community: “Conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning” (1 Peter 1:17). When we think of a journey, we normally think of some kind of movement from point A to point B. The Christian journey, begun in the waters of baptism (point A) has as its ultimate destination eternal life with God in heaven (point B). Unfortunately we find ourselves on all kinds of detours along the way. Because of sin, we make foolish turns and sometimes seem unable to detect the presence of the Lord. Today’s story of the two disciples on their way to Emmaus illustrates for us the fact that, even when we are dejected or on one of our many detours, the Lord is there, walking right beside us.
