May God the Father who made us bless us. May God the Son send his

healing among us. May God the Holy Spirit move within us and give

us eyes to see with, ears to hear with, and hands that your work

might be done. May we walk and preach the word of God to all. May the angel of peace watch over us

and lead us at last by God's grace to the Kingdom. Amen

Attention all Lectors and Ministers of the Holy Eucharist!

Week after week you live out your call as Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers and in doing so you enrich our Liturgies and Sacramental celebrations all of which draw attention to Christ. On behalf of the Parish I want to thank you for your enduring and generous witness of faith.

In working with the Parish Life Committee, we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity, in the midst of winter, to bring all of our Lectors and Ministers of the Eucharist together in prayer in order to nurture our individual and collective prayer lives as we continue to Minister in our Parish.

We are very fortunate to have Fr. Sean Davidson who is a member of the Missionaries of the Most Holy Eucharist to lead our prayer service.

We will meet at 2:30PM on Sunday, January 29th, 2017 in the Main Chapel of the Immaculate Conception Seminary . Religious Formation Announcements January 8, 2017 –

The Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the visit of the Three Wise Men to the Christ Child in the manger. This visit signifies God’s invitation to the salvation he offers to each of us. These Three Kings were among the wisest men of their time. When it became known to them that the Mes-siah was about to be born, they organized an expe-dition to find him. As their story tells us, they fol-lowed a star that led them to Bethlehem. Although their culture and religion were not the same, they accepted Jesus as their Savior. Their gifts symbol-ize Christ’s identity and mission. Caspar offered frankincense for God, Melchior brought gold for a king, and Balthasar brought myrrh used to anoint the dead. Today, Sunday, January 8th, at the 10:00 a.m. Fam-ily Mass, we welcome our 1st and 2nd Level stu-dents to a special Mass celebrating the Epiphany. A reception will follow Mass, in the Social Room, hosted by the Catholic Daughters. We thank them for their hospitality and continual prayers for the fruitful religious formation of the young people of our parish. REMINDER TO ALL 8th Level parents, candidates, catechists and teachers: There will be an important reflective gathering in the church on Tuesday, January 10th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all confirmation candidates and their parents. Look forward to seeing you there. OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE CALLING FOR YOU!!!! DO YOU HEAR THEM???? We need your help-OUR MOST URGENT NEED: a 6th Level on Monday afternoon (4:15 – 5:15); a 7th level on Monday evening (7:00 – 8:00); an 8th level on Tuesday evening (7:00 – 8:00). Formation of our children is more fruitful in a less crowded setting. Each voice can be more readily heard. We encourage you to prayerfully discern if you are being called to serve in this way. Team teaching is encouraged and has proven to be an excellent way to begin this ministry. Ask us about our parent incentive. We can al-ways use additional hands as substitutes, assistants and hall monitors. Contact our office during business hours to speak to a coordinator about how you can become an essential part of our team!!!

Gifts fit for a King!

We tend to go overboard when it comes to buying Christmas gifts. Let’s remember that Jesus received only three gifts

and each was very significant. Gold: is associated with Kings; as Christians we believe that Jesus is the King of Kings. Frankincense: is sometimes used in worship in Churches and showed that people worship Jesus. Myrrh: is a perfume that is put on dead bodies to make them smell nice and showed that Jesus would suffer and die.

Do you know the names of the Wise Men and who brought which gift to Jesus?

Gaspar (or Caspar), who has brown hair and a brown beard (or no beard!) and wears a green cloak and a gold crown with green jewels on it. He is the King of Sheba. Gaspar represents the Frankincense brought to Jesus. Melchior, who has long white hair and a white beard and wears a gold cloak. He is the King of Arabia. Melchior represents the Gold brought to Jesus. Balthazar, who has black skin and a black beard (or no beard!) and wears a purple cloak. He is the King of Tarse and Egypt. Balthazar represents the gift of Myrrh that was brought to Jesus.
