Dear Families and Friends, I hope you have been able to enjoy these beautiful sunny days. These days really increase my hope for better times to come. While you and I are challenged during this pandemic, it is very important to find the reason for our hope. In my homily this past week-end, I spoke about finding a reason for hope as St. Peter in his Letter said: “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.” I know at times it is not easy to give reasons for our hope, but if we look around, we can find many reasons for our hope-let us look at those who day and night care for the sick, those who serve us at the supermarkets, those who teach our children, the staff members of our parish who have been making phone calls and serving us, and many others. Personally, I have been inspired by Fr. Stephen, Fr. Vincent and Deacon Andy with their dedi-cation to everyone in the parish. Even when we can see reasons for our hope in those who serve us during this pandemic, our main reason for our hope is Jesus. As Jesus says in the Gospel: “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, be-cause I live and you will live.” Jesus is the motivation for you and me to have the strength to get up everyday knowing that there are better times to come. It is because of God’s grace that you and I are able to help each other. On a personal note, I give thanks to God for the opportunity to serve at St. Elizabeth Church. I will be celebrating my 8th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination this coming Tuesday, May 26. I am blessed to be able to be with you and to make a difference during this pandemic. We are making history, and the history is beautiful and full of hope. Let us continue placing our eyes on the Lord who promises us that He will never leave us alone. May the promise of the Holy Spirit shower you and me with His love and peace! Love you all,

Fr. Carlos

Sharing the Gospel Jesus prayed for his friends. He knew they were a special gift from God. Jesus was patient with them. He taught them about God. He cared about his friends and forgave them from his heart. Everything that Jesus did showed what God was like. Be a friend like Jesus. Care for your friends like God does.

Prayer God, thank you for my friends. Help me to treat them like you would.

Something to Draw Draw a picture of you with your friends.

Mission for the Week The next time you talk to God, pray for each of your friends. Ask your friends to pray for you, too.
