Change  in  Bulletin  Schedule  for  the  Summer  During the summer months, the bulletin will be produced and printed every other week on these dates: June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23 and Sept. 6.  Summer  Music  Ministry  Throughout the summer months, two of our music ministry ensembles continue to meet to prepare music for liturgies. Our Spanish Mass Coro meets at 11:15am downstairs in the Lannon Chapel, before the 12 noon Spanish Mass. There are also occa-sional Thursday evening rehearsals. The Contemporary Ensem-ble for the 5:30 liturgy gathers at 5pm for quick run-throughs before Mass. If you are interested in participating in either group, please contact Michael Burgo at 552-6108 or burgo@bc.edu. 2015  Catholic  Appeal  Update  We are still hoping that more of our parishioners will be able to support the Archdiocesan Appeal. Saint Ignatius has raised $63,350 toward the 2015 Catholic Appeal assessed goal of $77,900. If we don’t reach our goal, the remainder will have to come from our operating budget. If you have not yet made a con-tribution, please consider doing so as it will help reach our goal. Appeal materials are available in the church. On behalf of Cardi-nal Seán O’Malley and all who will benefit from your generosity, thank you for your support.  Celebration  of  Community  and  Ministry  During the weekend of September 19–20, we will once again come together as a community to celebrate our parish, including fun activities for persons of all ages and opportunities to enrich your faith. We are looking for people to serve on the planning committee for this event. We are especially in need of persons to plan activities, food and beverage service, public relations and finances. Summer  Presiders We are very fortunate to have the assistance of Jesuits and others during the summer months. Here’s a list of people you can ex-pect to see along with Fr. Bob and Fr. JA:

Fr. Gerry Gallen – Jesuit from Scotland who helped at St. Ignati-us a number of years ago. Gerry’s here for a few more weeks be-fore he returns to London.

Fr. Aaron Engebretson – newly ordained Jesuit from the Oregon Province. Aaron has been helping with the noon liturgy for the past three years and as a parish deacon this past year. Aaron will be with us during the month of July while he is taking classes at BC.

Fr. Dennis Baker – newly ordained Jesuit from the Northeast Province. Dennis studied theology at BC and is doing his pasto-ral summer at St. Ignatius. Dennis will be with us through mid-August

Fr. Edward Dooley – Australian Jesuit who studies at Boston College and is spending some sabbatical time here this summer. You may recognize Ed from his accent!

Fr. Michael Hahn – our very own Benedictine Monk will be re-turning in mid-July.

Fr. George Ngalame – diocesan priest from Cameroon who is filling in for Fr. Maurice while he’s studying in Germany for the summer.

Book  Discussion Are you looking for summer reading and greater parish partici-pation? We’re here to help on both counts. May we suggest that you read the book Being Mortal by Atul Gawande this summer and attend the discussion which will take place on September 13th at 11:15 in the parish office. In this book Gawande looks at the problems of aging and the inevitability of death. He points out how common it is for modern medicine to fail the people it is supposed to be helping (i.e., in striving to give patients health and survival, their well-being can be neglected). As the end of life approaches, Gawande insists that we look at the “Dying Role,” which he describes as patients' ability to “share memories, pass on wisdom and keepsakes, settle relationships, establish legacies and make peace with their God.” Please join us in September for discussion of this thoughtful, well-written book.

Many  Thanks  ! Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund—Fr. Brian Paulson, SJ, Pro-vincial of the Jesuits Midwest, sent a letter to all of the St. Ignati-us parishioners thanking them for the donation of $6,500. The Jesuits in Nepal have been notified of this donation. Fr. Paulson wrote “Thank you for your support of the Jesuit mission here at home and around the world which allows the Good News to be preached to those who need it most and to those who can influ-ence the world for God’s greater honor and glory.” ! ARRUPE—On behalf of everyone on the St. Ignatius AR-RUPE team, we wish to express our deep gratitude to our fellow-parishioners for the very generous donations to our refugee as-sistance ministry on the weekend of June 20 and 21. Last year, ARRUPE helped over 75 refugees who arrived in Boston. Thank you for responding so compassionately to those who have suf-fered so much and who are working to build new lives in Massa-chusetts. Your generosity has made it possible for us to continue to provide basic household goods and clothing to refugee fami-lies in the months to come. Thank you for your generosity and your prayers! ! Massachusetts Citizens for Life—Thanks to parishioners who supported the Right to Life Mother’s Day Rose Drive, rais-ing $810.

Saint  Ignatius  Pledge  Program  Saint Ignatius strives to create a model of Church where the gifts of all our parishioners are valued and celebrated. We are committed to issues of social justice and assist many non-profit organizations in the Boston area. Our many ministries depend on parishioner support. Running the parish and all of its programs costs $1.5 mil-lion a year, 95% of which is covered through contributions from our parishioners. Our goal is to have all of our pa-rishioners consider making a pledge, however big or small, in order to help keep these programs alive. By making automatic, recurring donations via credit cards, automatic bank withdrawals, or by requesting par-ish envelopes, parishioners make possible the planning of an appropriate operating budget and help us to forecast income for the upcoming year. By joining the pledge pro-gram, parishioners can maintain their planned level of support throughout the year. How much should one give? This is up to each individual, but traditional guidelines suggest devoting one hour’s pay each week, or 2.5% of your income. Please consider the amount you are able to contribute to Saint Ignatius Parish and indicate this amount on the pledge form. Here are the following options for participating in the annual pledge:

What  the  Outsider  Sees:  Teresa  of  Avila  and  Marilynne  Robinson  on  Knowing  God St. Teresa’s thoughts on encountering and living with God are much shaped by her position as an outsider to the hierarchical world of her day—a woman, and someone from a Jewish back-ground. Family  Mass  and  Faith  Formation  News  Our Faith Formation Program may have ended for the 2014–15 year, but we are busy planning for the 2015–16 year! Some up-coming events:

! June 28, F.I.R.E. Open Session: Members of our F.I.R.E. group (Family Centered Intergenerational Religious Education) are inviting any interested families to join them following the 10 a.m. Family Mass to see what a F.I.R.E. session is like. F.I.R.E. is an optional faith formation model for families desiring to bring the experience of faith formation into the home in an intergener-ational format. The F.I.R.E. program is a five-year cycle. Each year consists of six sessions during Advent, six sessions during Lent, and four sessions following Easter. Families join together in groups and self-determine their own meeting dates and times as best fit their schedules. Each group is provided with all of the session materials, lesson plans and resources needed to facilitate the program. Snacks will be provided. Test  Prep  for  Eighth  Grade  Catholic  Students  Saint Joseph Preparatory High School in Boston, a co-ed Catho-lic, independent school which offers shuttle bus transportation from area commuter rail stops, will offer a five-session Test Prep for the Catholic High School Entrance Test (HSPT) in the fall for students who seek to maximize performance for admission and scholarship opportunities. Space is limited and registration is available on a first come, first served basis. Entrance testing in the Archdiocese is scheduled for November 7 and December 5 and will also be offered at Saint Joe’s. COR UNUM MEAL CENTER, LAWRENCE: There are two more summer Saturday nights of serving at Cor Unum: July 18th and August 15th. We do need servers! Servers may car pool from church, leaving at 3PM and returning by about 8PM; those living “clos-er” to Lawrence may choose to go directly there. Servers must be at least 10 years of age. No puedes imaginar lo que es que alguien te toque tras an os de soledad. Es una caricia que sana. Un roce que te devuelve la dignidad. Un gesto que encierra todo el amor del mundo. The  Sacraments  

Baptism: Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults. Infant and child baptisms are by ar-rangement. First Eucharist: Preparation begins in grade one and includes classes, retreats and home instruction. Children receive First Eucharist in grade two. Confirmation: Our Confirmation program begins in grade nine. Stu-dents are confirmed in the spring of grade ten. Young adults who have been catechized but are not yet confirmed should contact the parish of-fice for an alternative program. Matrimony: Must be registered as a parishioner six months prior to beginning marriage arrangements.
