Twinned Parish News

Palm Weaving on Palm Sunday

Immediately following the 4:00 pm Mass on April

13, and the 10:00 am Mass on April 14 (Palm

Sunday), members of both parish communities will

be teaching us all how to weave our fresh palms

into different shapes. Please join us in the basement

at Assumption and the Faith Formation Center at

St. Anthony to learn this amazing trade and talent!

Holy Thursday Adoration There will be

adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Anthony’s

after the Holy Thursday Mass until midnight. The

parishioners from both parishes have been divided

up into groups according to their last names and

have scheduled hours for them to come and pray.

You may come according to your last name or as

you are able. The hours are as follows- A-F:

8:00-9:00 PM, G-L: 9:00-10:00 PM, M-R: 10:00-

11:00 PM, S-Z: 11:00-12:00 AM.

Easter Flowers Donations Remember your

loved ones this Easter with a donation to the Easter

Flower fund. Please contact either parish office to

make a memorial. Donations need to be in the office

by April 18

th

to be included in the Easter bulletin.

Who will join our parish families this

Easter? Those who will enter through the

sacraments into our Catholic faith at the Easter Vigil

are: Hailee Dyre, Zoe Grothe, Emily Lardy, Amy

Vossen, and Jarod Vossen. The RCIA catechists

offer our thanks to all those present for the Masses

for the past four Sundays, and our parish

communities as a whole, who prayed for and with

Jarod during the RCIA Penitential Rite and our Elect

during the RCIA Scrutinies. Please continue to pray

for our Candidate and Elect as they enter their final

week of preparation for the sacraments of initiation.

Good Friday Collection Pope Francis has

asked our parishes to support the Pontifical Good

Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy

Land. Your support helps the church minister in

parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious

education. This collection also helps to preserve the

sacred shrines and in this time of unrest it also

provides humanitarian aid to refugees. Please be

generous!

Teaching Mass - April 24 St. Anthony will

be hosting a teaching Mass on Wednesday, April

24th, at 6:40 pm. All members of our Parish

Community are invited to join St. Anthony's Faith

Formation Classes in developing a better

understanding of our liturgy during this special

celebration of the Mass.

THANK YOU! - Assumption Breakfast

Thank you so much to all of the parishioners from

both St. Anthony and Assumption that came to the

breakfast at Assumption on Sunday, April 7th! Thank

you to ALL of the students and parents that helped!

It was amazing to see so many people come

together to make it as successful and streamlined

as it was! A special thank you to Ruth Holdvogt,

Janice Stommes, Helen Theis, and Sarah Field for

all the time, energy, and talent they put into making

the breakfast and silent auction possible! We are so

grateful for such strong support of our youth and

faith formation programs. -Christy and Bonnie

Thank You for Generous Hearts! Sincere

thanks to the Parishes of Assumption and St.

Anthony's for a wonderful collection of BABY NEEDS

Help “Beat the Heat” at St. Anthony’s

It’s hard to imagine now, but things will

eventually heat up again! The Finance and

Parish councils have approved moving forward

with installing air conditioning in the church. Remember, air conditioning

will not only be for the comfort of the parishioners and visitors at the

parish for Sunday Masses, weddings and funerals but it will also help

maintain the church interior by helping keep the humidity level at a

constant. This is good for the paint, the organ & piano, as well as the

woodwork. The total cost of this project is $19,992.63 and we are roughly

half way there with past donations and the proceeds from the Catholic

Order of Foresters soup and Bouja sales this winter. Plans have been

made to have this installed in May. Please consider helping us “beat the

heat”! We will be having a second collection for this on May 12

th

.

Snow Removal Thank You! A special thank you to our “snow

warriors” for the winter for keeping the church grounds safe and clear

of snow and ice. Thank you especially to Ron Yanish for clearing the lots

and Adam Teicher for taking care of the rest. Thank you also to anyone

else who grabbed a shovel or spread out sand/grit when needed.

Thank you! - March Food Drive Thank you so much to all of the

Faith Formation Students and Teachers for their VERY successful Food

Drive in March. The teachers and students brought in over 250

nonperishable food items! Because of your donations, those less fortunate

will have food on their plate. Thank you for your generosity!

Fish Fry THANK YOU! A big thank you goes out to everyone who

helped with the fish fry! There were many hands at work with planning,

food prep and set up the days prior, bar and treat makers, and volunteers

working the night of. We served an amazing 864 dinners and take outs!

Thank you to everyone who came out to eat and also to everyone who

spread the word! The total profit made will be published once all the bills

are submitted.

No Breakfast on Sunday, April 14

th

There was a conflicting event

on Sunday, April 14th. We will no longer be holding the breakfast hosted

by our Faith Formation Families and Students on this date. At this time

we are unsure of rescheduling. Thank you for your patience.

Steubenville Weekend

For Grades 8-12

This summer our Parish

communities will be sending a

group of students to Steubenville in Rochester the

weekend of July 12-14. All students in grades 8-

12 (school year 2018-2019) are invited to sign up and

attend. The theme this year is 'Belong'. Steubenville is

an amazing opportunity for students to 'get away' and

get reconnected to God and deepen their faith. With

amazing speakers, music, break out sessions, and

discussions, they are sure to return to our community

reawakened to the goodness of God. The average cost

for Steubenville is around $250. We are only asking

parents to pay $75 of the cost and the parishes will

cover the rest. Father Aaron and I are so excited about

the opportunity to bring the students and

experience this weekend with them. We are also

inviting any other adults who would be interested in

chaperoning to contact the Faith Formation Office and

let Christy know. Registration materials were sent

home this week with students. If you have any

questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Christy

for answers.

Traveling Chalice and Madonna

FAMILY LIFE can build values integral to a strong

vocation…whether to Priesthood, religious life or

marriage. Teaching your children to value

commitment, service and prayer will help them

make strong vocation decisions as adults and live

out those vocations with success and fulfillment.

Thank you to Gary & Joyce Nohner for hosting the

Traveling Chalice and Madonna this week.
