Over the next year our Evangelization and Stewardship Ministry, “The 13th Apostle”, will work diligently and with great enthusiasm to help us all become informed and active apostles—disciples. The words apostle and disciple are not the identical, though they share some common traits. An apostle is someone who is called by Jesus as we see in all four Gospels, but also one who is sent. A disciple is a student of a master (teacher) but also one who is sent. To be an informed apostle-disciple one must fully understand what it means to be such. Our objectives in making that a reality, that each person who joins us at Holy Family become an informed, active, and knowledgeable apostle-disciple, will be to offer opportunities for retreats, spiritual talks, fellowship, and excellent guest speakers.

For next year we already have confirmed that Gus Lloyd (on Sirius XM, Catholic Station) will be leading our Parish Mission. Fr. Alfred, Deacon Jerry, Deacon Joe and myself will be preaching throughout the year on various themes of discipleship. We will have more fellowship time after mass with breakfasts, donut Sundays, etc. There will be an increase in family activities, parish activities, and many more wonderful opportunities for us to get together socially and to share faith.

In November, several activities are planned. There will be a guest speaker who will provide a presentation on the Blessed Mother, Mary as Queen of Apostles, on Saturday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Aquin Center. Then on Saturday, November 22 there will be a Movie Night at 6:00 p.m. And on Sunday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. join us for an NFL Rivalry Night—Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Dallas Cowboys on the big screen in the Aquin Center.

We invite you to participate when you can to share time with your parish family and to become better informed of how to become the 13th Apostle!

God bless you,

Father John

Year of Evangelization at Our Parish

The names of loved ones who have preceded us in life and faith will be placed on the altar and remembered at all Masses celebrated during the month of November. “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” - MATTHEW 22:21

Everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “Stewards” of the gifts God has given each of us. All God is asking is that we give back a portion of what He gave us. This is the essence of Stewardship. God should be our first priority in everything. All else comes second.
