Lenten Prayer Series: The Road to the Resurrection: Exploring the Passion & Resurrection Narratives

Tuesday Evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning March 7

Our pastor, Fr. Tom Krenik, will lead a series of sessions on Tuesday evenings during Lent to help us grow in appreciation of these important parts of our Bible. The death and resurrection of Christ is at the heart of our Christian faith. We call it the Paschal Mystery. We remember and present ourselves to this saving mystery every time we celebrate the Mass and the sacraments. The death of Christ leads to his resurrection. Without his resurrection he would be a martyr, but not the Risen Lord. This series will be a study of these important sacred texts. It will also help us to see how we are drawn into this paschal mystery in our daily Christian living. Fr. Tom will use images, symbols, and stories as well as his reflections from his own study and experience. The cost to participate is $20.00 per person. Prison Ministry Event

Monday, January 23, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. St. John Neumann in Eagan

All are invited to come and discover what it means to provide an active and meaningful Catholic presence to those affected by imprisonment. Topics will include prison ministry and prison reform. Homelessness in Dakota County Panel Discussion

Monday, January 30, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley

Are there people experiencing homelessness in Dakota County? Where do they sleep? How many are military veterans? Senior citizens? Teenagers? What should I do when I see someone holding a cardboard sign at the corner? Current data shows that 50 people are turned away from shelters at night, which are designed to help in emergencies, due to lack of space.

Some of the speakers for this discussion have been homeless and some have worked to end homelessness within Dakota County. Discussion will include efforts to open an emergency shelter in Dakota County for youth age 18 and older, women and men. Your involvement starts with learning. Learning is the first act of service in addressing those in need of emergency shelter within our community.

The Cana Dinner is Risen Savior’s annual married couples’ event. It is a wonderful opportunity for married couples to take some time out of their busy lives to focus on each other as couples; it is an opportunity to celebrate their marriage by renewing their wedding vows at a prayer service in English led by Fr. Tom Krenik, and then spend a fun evening together enjoying good food, great music, and lots of dancing!

This year, we are celebrating Marriage Throughout the Years . . . this means: feel free to dress according to "your" decade, add a piece of jewelry from your wedding to your outfit for the evening. Also, we would love for you to provide us with one of your wedding photos to use as part of our decorations for the evening. Just e-mail your photo to marianne.brass@risensavior.org.

After Mass ticket sale resumes on Sunday, January 22, 2017, which coincides with the annual Cana Dinner Silent Auction during the Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast from 9:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. downstairs in Resurrection Hall. Plan to have breakfast at Risen Savior that day and to do some bidding on fun, creative Silent Auction items, such as ‘Dinner at the Pastor’s House.’ After Mass ticket sale continues in January and February.

“Cana Dinner”, es el evento anual de las parejas casadas en Risen Savior. Es una oportunidad maravillosa para las parejas casadas de tomar un tiempo de sus ocupadas vidas para enfocarse en su pareja. Es una oportunidad de celebrar su matrimonio, renovando sus votos en un servicio de oración en inglés dirigido por el padre Tom Krenik, y pasar juntos una noche de diversión disfrutando de una buena cena, buena música y mucho baile.

Baby Bottle Campaign

Thank you to everyone who took an empty baby bottle home with you for the Baby Bottle Campaign for Pregnancy Choices LifeCare Center in Apple Valley. If you would still like one, they will be available in the baby crib in the Commons this week. Please return your bottles with your donation to the church next weekend. Please keep the women who are affected by an unplanned pregnancy in your prayers.
