- Trey Talley, The Church at Pecan Creek
Since The Church at Pecan Creek meets at Pecan Creek Elementary
School, we decided to try to reach the kids and families in the
surrounding area by putting on a Sports Camp style VBS. It was a
huge success for our new church. We had 39 of our members
working each night, and 25 additional volunteers from other
churches that also helped. Each evening the kids did rotations
through sports, crafts, snacks, and a Bible lesson. This turned out
to be a great event for our members to bond by coming together
for a common cause and working together as a team. We
ministered to 110 children over the 4-day event, and also met
many parents. The Sunday following our event, several families
returned to worship with us. We believe this event helped us make
a positive impact on the kids and parents in the Pecan Creek
community.

Strengthening Churches
-Donald Tittle, First Baptist Church Flower Mound
First Baptist Church, Flower Mound is in the process of revitalization and much needs to be done. I invited
Morgan Malone to come to our church to give us some counsel. He worked with our team and helped us to
discover and develop our values. He offered an unbiased view as we worked through the process, guiding us to
understand what we were and were not saying. In the discussion he gave us the framework and tools to achieve a
greater result. His impartial guidance provided the feedback we needed to work through the process and
prevented us from becoming helplessly stuck.
- Micah Caswell, Redeemer Church
I am overwhelmed by how the Lord is providing and
establishing the new church. Behind the scenes we see
numerous wins that propel us forward, but one of the most significant
wins has been our new Youth ministry. Over the span of a year, a
genuine friendship with Reece and Stacie Bishop evolved. They walked
away from a full-time position at a church they love, raised the support
they needed, and came on staff at Redeemer Church. Reece has spent
the past school year getting to know the students in our church, as
well as coaches and teachers at nearby schools. He serves as chaplain
for a high school team and reaches out to students in our part of the
city. I was overjoyed to walk into McDonalds one morning and looked
over to see Reece sitting at a table of high school boys with their
Bibles cracked open! I didn’t know he was going to be there, and I didn’t know those boys, but I knew the God
that was transforming their hearts! This past year we have seen students profess faith in Jesus and get baptized.
Our youth group has nearly doubled! Jesus is truly building his church!

Cooperative Ministries -Stephanie Gates, UNT BSM
I have had the opportunity to meet weekly with Sydney, a UNT
swimmer, to study the Bible during the last school year. She did not
grow up in the church, but was interested in learning more about
Jesus and the Bible. She first came to the BSM in April 2015 when
Ashley, a BSM leader and UNT swimmer, invited her. She continued
coming when school began in the Fall 2015. As we were studying the
book of John together, it continued to be obvious that God was
revealing Himself to her. In February 2016, Sydney became a
Christian and began inviting her team to join her at the BSM and at
church. Sydney will be a BSM student leader this school year and I
can’t wait to watch her continue to grow in her relationship with
God and to walk beside her as she shares the Gospel with her
teammates.
Like all viable organizations, churches require well
developed leadership. Quality leaders must always be
sharpening their skills and receiving training in new
methods and approaches in church leadership. DBA
assists churches and their leaders by offering a variety of
leadership training through consulting one-on-one;
providing grants so leaders can attend conferences;
planning monthly luncheons for pastors and planters; and
offering yearly leadership training for age group teachers
and leaders. In August 2016, one hundred and fifty
leaders received advance training at the Grow Your Groups Conference. The financial gifts from member churches
make it possible for the association to assist churches with leadership development.
Perhaps the most rapidly growing and yet most
unreached people group in Denton County are
identified by the Hispanic population. DBA recently
took a major step to focus on Hispanic work by
bringing David Crane to the staff. Fluent in Spanish
with a background in Hispanic culture and churches,
David has worshipped with our eight Hispanic
congregations meeting pastors and many members.
In addition, he has begun to work with DBA
churches that are currently providing space for Hispanic groups that are not connected with the Association. With
an ever-changing population, Hispanic work has become a most vital strategic focus for DBA.

How can my church expand the Kingdom of God?
Pray
To maximize the effectiveness of our churches for expansion of the
Kingdom of God, partner with DBA.
Pray for doors to open and hearts to be receptive to the Gospel in
Denton County. Pray for opportunities to share the message of Christ.
Pray for more laborers to work in the fields for the harvest is ripe.
Each of DBA’s supported ministries provide opportunities where
individuals can serve: Collegiate Ministry (UNT & TWU), Raceway
Ministry, Camp Copass and Disaster Relief. Church plants are looking for
servant leaders to assist with the many demands of starting a new work.
DBA’s budget is funded entirely through the contributions of its member
churches, which are encouraged to give regularly. DBA receives no
monetary gifts from either state or national convention.

Our Budget For the last 130 years, DBA has focused on helping
churches start churches, and strengthening existing
churches for the purpose of fulfilling the Great
Commission. Our staff works with pastors and church
leaders to equip, encourage, coach and provide resources
to accomplish this goal.
Our budget is a reflection of our commitment to the
identity and purpose of the association. Church
contributions provide all of the DBA operating budget.
We are very thankful for the faithful support of member
churches.
