All About Electricity Unit Plan Wednesday

Analyze the Learner My class is a fourth grade class of 24 students-- 13 boys and 11 girls.

• 14 of my students are white, 7 are African American, and 3 are Asian.

• One student has Asperger’s, four have ADHD, and one has dyslexia.

• Two students are gifted learners.

State the ObjectivesBy the end of the day, my students will grasp magnets, observe their poles’ behavior, and compare that behavior to that of charges that we discussed earlier in the week., with 75% of the learners finishing the lesson proficient on the topic.

Select the Methods, Media, and MaterialsWe will use a poster made on Microsoft power point as a guide for our lesson. We will also use magnets and objects that are attracted to magnets to help us understand their behavior. I will also make the charges video available for review.

Utilize Media and MaterialsI will hang my poster about magnets at the front of the room. It is divided into three sections, which will be our three main points to discuss magnets. We will manipulate magnets to observe their behavior. Then, we will review the “Charges” video from earlier in the week.

Require Learner Participation We will begin class with a discussion, lead by me about magnets. We will use a magnet poster that is divided into three parts. Each section of the poster will be a main point of the discussion. We will manipulate magnets and objects throughout this discussion to enhance our understanding of magnets. Finally, we will review the “Charges” video from earlier in the week to compare the similarities of magnetic poles and electrical charges.

Evaluate and ReviseI will assess the class as a whole. I will take into account their discussions to see if they understand the similarities between magnetic poles and electrical charges. This will give me an idea of not only their knowledge of magnets, but also of charges.
