MyBS/MSDegree inEnvironmental Sciences (Universityof Venice, Italy), with a thesis in the Chemical,

HydrogeologicalandGeophysicalarea,gavemeskillstoassessenvironmentalproblemsinallitsfacets.

MyPhDthesisinEnzymaticOxidationProcessesappliedtothebioremediationofwastewaters(formallyPhD

in Textile Engineering Textile Chemistry), financed withan individual FCT grant (SFRH/BD/4720/2001), gave me

specificskillsinthefieldofChemistryandBiochemistryappliedtobioremediationofwastewaters.

Later,withanindividualFCTPost-doctoral grant (SFRH/BPD/24238/2005),I have deepenedmyChemistry

and Biochemistry knowledge and acquired skills in the field of Structural Biology working on enzymatic radical

polymerizationandbiopolymersfunctionalizationforwaterremediationpurposes.

WithanotherindividualFCTPost-doctoralgrant(SFRH/BPD/37045/2007)Ihavedevelopedamethodforthe

removalofheavymetalsfrompollutedwatersusingcyanobacterialextracellularpolysaccharidesattheInstituteof

MolecularandCellularBiology(IBMC)integratedinthegroupofCellularandAppliedMicrobiology.

I amleading aFCTproject (PTDC/CTM/100627/2008)withthe title Thin-layernanofiltrationmembranes

usingengineeredbiopolymersforseawaterdesalinationpre-treatmentprocessesattheInstituteofMolecularand

CellularBiology(IBMC).

Currently, Ima FacultyResearcher with a 4 yearsresearch contractFCT - Cincia2008 at the Textile

Engineering Department of the University of Minho working on nanoparticles coating and functionalization of

naturalandsyntheticpolymer stoimproveaddedfunctionalities.

Finally, my active participation in the day-life Institute (I was member of the Executive Council as the

representativeofthefellowPhDresearchersin2009and2010)andinseveralEuropeanR&Dprojects(COSTAction

868, D32, 847 and BIORENEW, ULTRATEC, BIOEFFTEX E.U. projects) allowed me to work with international and

multidisciplinaryteams.

Iam aperseverantpersonwhoismotivatedandambitious.I amalsoan open-minded,organizedperson

wholikes teamwork.Iam ableto adapttoaconstantlychangingworkenvironmentandtomaintaingoodworking

relationshipswithindividualsofdifferentculturalbackgrounds.
