Course Information
Course Description
This course emphasizes the computer automation of design and manufacturing systems. A survey of the automation
echniques used in modern design and manufacturing facilities is presented. Discussions are presented related to
he system integration of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE), computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM), robotics, material resource planning, tool management, information management, process
ontrol, and quality control. The current capabilities, applications, limitations, trends, and economic considerations
re stressed.
Course Goal
This course emphasizes the computer automation of design and manufacturing systems. A survey of the
utomation techniques used in modern design and manufacturing facilities is presented. Discussions are
resented related to the system integration of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering
CAE), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), robotics, material resource planning, tool management,
nformation management, process control, quality control, etc. Students will gain an understanding of current
apabilities, applications, limitations, trends, and economic consideration.
Course Objectives
The primary objective of this course is to impart to the student an understanding of manufacturing tools and
techniques for advocacy and implementation of computer-integrated manufacturing systems.
